Job Title: Technical Sales Specialist (Western Workflow)

Location: San Francisco, CA (Remote/Field) This is not a 100% remote position - Must be located near San Francisco, CA

Group/Division: Life Sciences and Laboratory Products/Bioscience Division, Western Workflow Team

How will you make an impact?

The Western Workflow portfolio contains innovative, high quality reagents and instruments to researchers worldwide that empower the process of scientific discovery with reagents for every step in the western blotting process. As a team, we provide the technical sales support to help enable our customers to generate high quality, publishable results with minimal time and effort. We are a team of 13 hardworking, technical sales specialist who take pride in supporting our customer's scientific needs.

What will you do?

  • Be the technical specialist to drive sales and support the sales team for the full Western Workflow portfolio of products in your territory
  • Achieve territory sales goals by proactively calling on existing and potential new customers via field visits, email and by phone
  • Work closely with LSG counterparts and Distribution reps to develop specific account growth strategies, account mapping and penetration
  • Have in-depth knowledge of Western Blotting products
  • Prospect for and qualify sales leads, building a strong pipeline
  • Perform complete western workflow demos of extraction, electrophoresis, transfer, immunoblotting, detection and analysis
  • Maintain appropriate records and process demos, quotes, and sample requests
  • Collect, process, and share competitive intelligence and market feedback
  • Provide forecasting and reporting as needed on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis
  • Participate in trade shows, vendor shows, and related activities
  • Prepare and implement annual Territory Sales Plan and updates as needed
  • Provide after sales technical support and customer service



How will you get here?

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or Biochemistry required, advanced degree or the equivalent experience preferred
  • Background in a relevant life sciences field
  • Relevant competitive intelligent and/or Life Sciences market knowledge
  • Must have hands-on experience with western blotting and via prior work experience and/or education

  • Lab, selling and/or customer-facing experience within the life sciences industry preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to learn and use on-line CRM application and social media resources to grow territory
  • Proven track record of defining and implementing a strategy to achieve results
  • May have overnight travel up to 50% of the time based upon territory
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., walk and or stand up to 8 hours a day, and travel to meet with customers
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable motor vehicle, car insurance and acceptable driving record
  • Effective communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member within a cross-functional team as well as to work independently and handle multiple tasks
  • Position may require Covid-19 vaccination and/or routine testing, per client discretion. As a requirement to be onsite at Thermo Fisher Scientific this position requires vaccination status disclosure upon employment
