Job Overview

The Technical Sales Engineer supports the global sales team from a technical materials engineering standpoint, quotes new powder products and helps support production with instruction on how to manufacturer new powder products, assists in the review of customer specifications and uses production knowledge to establish alignment with customers on new opportunities to grow the powder business. Primary objectives of this position will be to help the commercial team find and secure growth in both Additive Manufacturing and Thermal Spray powder sales through, new product qualifications, production planning, schedule optimization, customer visits and technical presentations. This position can be performed at a remote location (located in the USA) and should be available to travel up to 25% of the time.

Requirements

  • Works independently and judicially to support a global commercial team through technical, commercial, and quality guidance
  • Functions as a primary contact between primary production sites (e.g., Indianapolis) and the international sales network (e.g., Europe)
  • Review's customer specification and provides feedback in a timely manner
  • Develops instructions for new product introduction and assists with the first article of inspection process
  • Interfaces with the production team to help plan and execute critical customer orders
  • Provides assistance to procurement and production in regard to supply chain issues or raw material purchasing
  • Helps drive new product qualifications with key customers
  • Responsible for helping account managers achieve global sales targets
  • Communicates directly and presents to customers on a regular basis
  • Provides guidance for new product or special product quotations
  • Travels up to 25% of time to customers and production sites
  • Other duties as assigned



Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering
  • Work experience: 3-5 years in a related field of powder manufacturing and/or gas atomization of metals
  • Proven problem-solving capability
  • Effective communication and presentation Skills
  • Demonstration of specific process knowledge (manufacturing, alloy design, quality, safety, and packaging of powder products)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Wavefront, Oracle, and Salesforce
  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Materials Engineering
