Senior Sales Engineer - Account Management

As a Senior Sales Engineer you will play a key role in collaborating with the Account Management team on existing enterprise accounts. Your responsibilities will be to identify customer pain points, uncover new opportunities, develop solutions, present the Fastly value benefits and address any technical objections. To realize this, the Senior Sales Engineer should have a strong desire to utilize their technical and sales skills to understand the customer’s needs and requirements. The Senior Sales Engineer should be highly competent in developing a technical sales strategy and have the ability to work cross-functionally with Account Management, Product Management, Product Marketing and Engineering.  Experience in delivering compelling demonstrations of cloud solutions and products is essential.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with Account Managers to develop and execute strategy on growing accounts
  • Uncover customer needs and propose relevant Fastly solutions
  • Perform product demonstrations live in the field or via video conference
  • Plan and explain the technical and functional aspects of a product or service to the customer.
  • Plan and successfully execute on light-weight Proof-of-Concepts
  • Execute a smooth hand-off of technical internal escalations and clearly document key customer details
  • Participate in product, sales and role-specific trainings so as to remain effective in your role
  • Be able to contribute content for general customer education
  • Run a regular cadence of sessions for Account Managers to drop in and ask technical questions
  • Plan and participate in customer Quarterly Business Reviews

What We're Looking For

  • 8+  years experience in a pre-sales role
  • Experience in a pre-sales role partnering with Account Managers in selling to and growing enterprise accounts 
  • Strong business acumen with a focus on seeing the “big picture” and relating Fastly technology to solving business problems.
  • Proven ability to perform demos in front of both technical and business focused audiences
  • Knowledge in cloud and web related technologies is required
  • Understanding with networking/security systems/protocols and Linux systems are essential
  • Working familiarity with a basic scripting language (python, ruby, perl, PHP or VCL)
  • Ability to quickly digest and respond to complex information in an appropriate manner
  • Very comfortable interacting with business and technical focused contacts both inside and outside the company
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable keeping up with technology trends in cloud services
  • Open, curious and receptive to new ideas and ways of doing things
  • Travel domestically 30%

In accordance with applicable law, Fastly’s minimum base pay for this role if hired in Colorado is $154,000 per year, which includes an annual base salary of $115,500 and the ability to earn $38,500 in commission target compensation. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Fastly's equity plan. Final offer amount will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by multiple factors, including years and depth of experience and expertise, location and other business considerations. Note that this role is available to candidates outside of Colorado and different minimum compensation may apply.
