Position Type: Regular - Full-Time
Requisition ID: 42621
In every role, McCainers are ambitious, curious, and passionate about creating exceptional work experiences - together. With a customer-first mindset, we make doing business with McCain easy.
About the role.
This is a field-based sales role managing a territory across Western Melbourne and regional Victoria, including areas such as Ballarat, Warrnambool, Horsham and Port Fairy.
You'll spend most of your time out with customers - visiting sites, building relationships, and identifying opportunities to grow our presence. A big part of the role is being proactive: showing up, starting conversations, and finding ways to add value.
You'll work a structured weekly rhythm:
- Monday to Thursday: on the road visiting customers across your territory
- Friday: based in the Melbourne office for planning, admin and team connection
Regional travel is required approximately every 6-8 weeks and may include overnight stays.
Success in this role comes from staying consistent, thinking on your feet, and being comfortable working through direct or challenging customer interactions. It takes time to build momentum, so your initial focus will be on learning the territory, understanding your customers, and building strong relationships to support long-term growth.
What you'll be doing.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of Foodservice customers across your territory
- Proactively seek out new business opportunities and convert them into ongoing relationships
- Build strong relationships with end-users, while working with distributor partners to support product availability and growth
- Spend time in the field each day, engaging customers, understanding their needs, and responding to challenges
- Run product demonstrations ("cook-ups") to showcase the McCain range and drive interest within accounts
- Increase product ranging and drive presence within existing accounts
- Plan and prioritise your call cycle across metro and regional areas
- Maintain accurate records in CRM and track opportunities, risks, and performance
- Work closely with the broader Foodservice team to share insights and improve results
What you'll need to be successful.
- Experience in a customer-facing sales or service role (Foodservice, hospitality, retail or similar), with Foodservice or closely related industry experience strongly preferred
- A strong self-starter mindset with the ability to manage your own time and territory
- Confidence building relationships and engaging a wide range of customers
- Resilience, with the ability to handle rejection and challenging conversations
- A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and solving problems
- Ability to think on your feet and adapt your approach depending on the situation
- Strong organisational skills and confidence using systems (e.g. CRM, Excel)
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
- A valid driver's licence (essential)
