What You’ll Do
As a Sales Engineer at Black Duck, you will guide customers to success across three key areas:
Technical Sales Partnership
- Build strong relationships with prospective customers by understanding their technical and business needs
- Deliver compelling product presentations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts
- Clearly articulate the value of Black Duck solutions in addressing security, quality, and compliance challenges
Technical Account Engagement
- Support customers throughout their journey, driving successful adoption and long-term satisfaction
- Partner with customers to plan and scale deployments across enterprise environments
- Ensure a seamless transition from evaluation to implementation
Thought Leadership
- Represent Black Duck at industry events, conferences, and seminars
- Engage with customers, prospects, and peers on the latest trends in application security
- Contribute to technical communities, forums, and customer knowledge-sharing initiatives
What You Bring
- Hands-on software development experience in one or more of the following:
C/C++, Java, C#, Objective-C - Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or Perl
- Prior experience in customer-facing roles (e.g., Sales Engineer, Consultant, Technical Support, or similar)
- Strong understanding of SDLC, including Agile and CI/CD practices
- Familiarity with application security, software quality, and security tools
(Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CSSLP are a plus) - A customer-first mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to travel within Japan for customer engagements, as needed
- Excellent communication skills with native-level Japanese and professional proficiency in English
