The primary purpose of a Sales Engineer, Plant Room Upgrade (Sales Engineer, Retrofit) in Trane Technologies is to drive revenue growth and profitability by using technical expertise to deliver energy-efficient retrofit solutions that align with our business strategy. This involves identifying opportunities, directly engaging with customers, providing expert retrofitting advice, and closing sales deals ethically to achieve sales targets. The role is crucial in building and maintaining strong customer relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction, and contributing to business growth through technical selling and optimizing sales process.

What you will do: 

1. Market Expansion and Identify Opportunities:

  • Understand market through market intelligence and competitors’ analysis,
  • Understand company's growth strategies
  • Proactively identify and pursue business opportunities that are aligning with company's growth strategies to expand the market coverage
  • Use company's sales management system to build project pipelines 

2. Customer Engagement, Needs Assessment and Solutions Development:

  • Conduct effective customer visits to identify key clients, understand their annual retrofit budgets and plans, and assess the feasibility of retrofit business opportunities based on their on-site unit operations.
  • Present proposals to customers, highlighting the benefits and features of the solutions, and collaborate with the technical support team to develop competitive retrofit solutions and secure retrofit business opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain strong customer relationships to secure project opportunities.

3. Collaboration and Project fulfillment

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and other various departments to ensure projects completion.
  • Coordinate with other teams to resolve quality issues and ensure customer satisfaction 

4. Oversee contract term implementation and ensure collection

5. Comply with company's sales processes, governance, and compliance standards.

  • Fulfill daily sales activities per company's requirements.
  • Reporting and system updates

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in HVAC, building environment and equipment engineering, mechatronics, or other science and engineering disciplines.
  • Over 3 years of sales experience in retrofit or plant room upgrade is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of the technical aspects of the products or services being sold. Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts and solutions.
  • Sales Acumen: Understanding of the direct sales process and the ability to align technical solutions with business needs. Ability to influence and persuade customers to adopt the proposed solutions.
  • Customer-Focused: Strong customer service skills with a focus on understanding and meeting customer needs; Ability to build trust and act as a reliable technical advisor to customers.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product development, engineering, and customer support, e.g.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms. Ability to build strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to design effective solutions for customers. Ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and customer engagements simultaneously. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of basic accounting principles and AR processes. Ability to manage invoices, payments, and credit assessments effectively.
