About the Team

The Finance & Corporate Development team at Airwallex drives the company's financial strategy and growth. Our team focuses on financial planning, analysis, and corporate transactions to ensure Airwallex's long-term success. We collaborate across departments to identify opportunities, manage risks, and execute strategic initiatives. What you’ll do

We are looking for a Safeguarding and Capital Adequacy Manager to join Airwallex Lithuania. In this role, you will own the end-to-end safeguarding and capital adequacy frameworks in line with local requirements.

You will act as the designated person responsible for monitoring, controlling and ensuring compliance with client funds safeguarding obligations, as well as the person responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with capital requirements. You will report to the Treasurer and Airwallex Lithuania Board, and will work closely with Finance, Risk, Regulatory & Compliance, Product, Engineering and Operations to design data-driven controls, run daily reconciliations, improve tooling and workflows, and provide clear reporting to the Board and regulators.

This role is an integral part of our global Treasury operations and a key pillar of the Lithuanian licence set-up. It is well suited to someone who combines strong regulatory discipline with analytical depth, operational ownership and a genuine interest in building scalable financial infrastructure.

This role is based in Lithuania.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain Airwallex LT’s capital adequacy, tracking regulatory requirements and managing reserves or capital top-ups.

  • Protect 100% of client funds through authorised methods, ensuring ongoing compliance with Lithuanian and EU regulations.

  • Implement and enhance safeguarding controls, including reconciliations and remediation workflows, to meet regulatory standards.

  • Develop reporting and KPIs to improve transparency on cash, safeguarding, and risks, aligning with global Treasury standards.

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to design scalable data models and workflows for new products and partners.

  • Automate Treasury operations to reduce manual risk and minimise reconciliation backlogs.

  • Act as an independent control function, escalating deficiencies and contributing to regulatory audits or responses.

  • Coordinate and document periodic independent reviews of safeguarding and capital adequacy controls, including testing of reconciliations, data quality and outsourced or group-provided inputs.

  • Support firmwide initiatives including new safeguarding account setup, safeguarding & regulatory enhancements and liquidity management projects.

Who you areMinimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.

  • 3-5 years of analytical experience in financial services or fintech, focusing on regulatory capital, safeguarding, or treasury operations.

  • Expertise in data analysis and reconciliations to generate business insights and drive execution.

  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and balance regulatory needs with operational reality in fast-paced environments.

  • Excellent English communication skills, capable of explaining complex financial topics to diverse audiences.

  • Resident in or willing to relocate to Lithuania to serve as an Airwallex LT-employee.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience managing safeguarding or client money regimes, such as Bank of Lithuania requirements, EU EMI/PI safeguarding, or equivalent international frameworks.

  • Knowledge of capital adequacy, own funds calculations, and liquidity monitoring within regulated financial entity frameworks.

  • Familiarity with EU e-money and payments regulations, including PSD2, PSD3, the E-Money Directive, and local standards like Bank of Lithuania Resolution No. 247.

  • Technical proficiency in SQL, Python, or R, alongside experience using tools such as Hex, Databricks, Claude to automate reporting and reconciliations.

  • A background in cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Treasury, Product, Financial Partnerships, and Compliance teams to implement process changes and control policies.

  • A deep interest in regulated financial infrastructure, supported by a working understanding of banking products, financial markets, and accounting.

  • The ability to thrive in high-standard, fast-paced environments with a focus on ownership, institutional financial soundness, and the integrity of client funds.
