Oneida Health is currently seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Hospital Emergency Department (ER) team. This position is responsible for coordinating patient care and delivering nursing services that demand specialized judgment and skills. As an RN in the ER, you will supervise LPNs and support nursing staff while reporting to a supervisory-level nursing position. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, maintaining composure in high-pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify patients' needs and provide comprehensive nursing care in the Emergency Department.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of LPNs and other support nursing staff under your direction.
  • Maintain accurate and organized patient records and prepare reports promptly as required.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for patients and staff, adhering to quality standards and infection control protocols.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
  • Exhibit a customer service-oriented approach when interacting with patients and their families, ensuring their comfort and addressing their concerns.
  • Utilize superb organizational skills to manage supplies and equipment efficiently, ensuring availability and readiness for patient care.
  • Remain calm, composed, and professional during crisis and emergent situations, providing effective nursing care under pressure.
  • Proficiently navigate electronic records management systems and utilize computer skills for documentation and communication.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate of Nursing (Required), Bachelor’s of Nursing (Preferred).

License and Certifications:

  • New York RN License (Required).
  • BLS Certification (Preferred).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience preferred, with specific experience in an Emergency Department setting being advantageous.

  • Stamina to handle the physical demands of emergency nursing, including lifting and positioning patients.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations.

Skills Required
