Solve by Talent is partnering with the University of Sydney to recruit a Research Computing Specialist within Information and Communications Technology (ICT). This role will contribute to the delivery and ongoing operation of research systems that support cutting-edge research activity across one of Australia’s leading universities.

The opportunity
This role sits within the Research Infrastructure team, responsible for delivering the computing platforms and services that support world-class research across the University.
You will play a key role in shaping the University's research computing capability, working across high-performance computing (HPC), cloud platforms and research technology services, enabling researchers the tools and infrastructure needed to tackle complex problems and drive innovation.
What you’ll do
Manage and optimise research computing platforms across cloud and on-premises environments.
Support the delivery of high-performance computing (HPC) services and research technology initiatives.
Work with researchers, vendors and ICT teams to design and improve research computing services.
Monitor, troubleshoot and maintain research infrastructure to ensure reliability, security and performance.
Contribute to the implementation of new research computing capabilities, services and platforms.
What we’re looking for
Background in Research organisations or institutions, with an understanding of research projects, workflows and lifecycles.
Experience managing research computing, scientific computing or high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
Sound understanding of cloud platforms, infrastructure services and modern computing environments.
Experience supporting complex technical platforms and troubleshooting infrastructure, systems or network issues.
Solid stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work closely with researchers, vendors and technical teams.
