About the Role

We are seeking an Account Relationship Specialist – Academic Partnerships to manage and grow a portfolio of university and educational institution customers within the academic market.

This role has a strong focus on relationship management and retention (approximately 80%), alongside new business and growth opportunities (approximately 20%). You will work closely with academic stakeholders to strengthen partnerships, expand product usage and support curriculum-aligned solutions.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Brisbane (primary), with openness to Melbourne, and offers a hybrid working arrangement. Interstate travel is required as part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and grow existing academic customer relationships, driving retention and long-term value

  • Identify and deliver upsell opportunities across the allocated territory, supporting overall sales targets

  • Build strategic partnerships within universities beyond traditional library relationships

  • Conduct virtual and in-person meetings with customers, academics, bookshops and other stakeholders

  • Understand customer needs, assess product usage and engagement, and align solutions accordingly

  • Maintain strong knowledge of the LexisNexis product suite, including AI-enabled offerings

  • Maintain accurate CRM records and provide customer insights and feedback

Success Criteria

Achieve territory sales and retention targets through strong relationship management, while building high-quality partnerships and identifying growth opportunities that maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Requirements

  • Solid experience in account management, relationship management, sales or a related role

  • Background or exposure to education, academia, law, or professional services (preferred)

  • Strong relationship-building, communication and negotiation skills

  • Confidence engaging with senior academic and institutional stakeholders

  • AI fluency and willingness to work with AI-enabled products and solutions

  • Valid Australian driver’s licence and ability to travel interstate as required
