The Relationship Manager (RM) – WSB is a front-office origination role responsible for sourcing, originating, and growing secured lending relationships across European markets. While NBFIs are the primary target segment, the RM will also originate opportunities across adjacent wholesale asset classes where Multitude Bank has appetite (e.g., specialty finance, receivables/working-capital, selected asset-backed and secured corporate structures).
The role is designed to be the commercial owner of the client relationship and deal pipeline, from first contact through execution and ongoing portfolio expansion. The RM works closely with Risk, Legal, Finance, and Operations to ensure disciplined underwriting and efficient closing.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Origination & European Market Coverage
Build and execute a proactive origination strategy across assigned European markets.
Source new business primarily in NBFI lending, including consumer/SME lenders, embedded finance, BNPL/point-of-sale finance, specialty finance platforms, and other non-bank credit originators.
Expand coverage into adjacent WSB asset classes where relevant (e.g., secured corporate lending, working capital / receivables-backed structures, selected assetbacked opportunities).
Develop referral networks with debt advisors, sponsors, law firms, servicers, fintech ecosystem players and industry associations.
Maintain market intelligence on pricing, structures, competitive dynamics, and regulatory trends.
2) Opportunity Qualification & Deal Shaping
Screen opportunities quickly for fit (business model, collateral, portfolio performance, governance, regulatory status, funding need, returns).
Define the optimal financing use case (e.g., secured revolving line, receivablesbacked facility, warehouse-style facility, structured bilateral funding).
Provide early input on terms, security package and key commercial parameters in coordination with Credit Structuring and Risk.
3) Execution Leadership (Front-to-Back)
Own the end-to-end process from first meeting to closing: NDA, data requests, diligence coordination, term sheet negotiation, approvals, preparation of investment memo that will ultimately be used for Investment Committee approval.
Coordinate internal stakeholders (Risk/Credit, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Operations) to keep momentum and remove blockers.
Ensure high-quality client materials and data (portfolio reporting, tape readiness, covenant reporting frameworks) and be able to properly perform risk analysis of loan tape and portfolio health.
Be knowledgeable of transacting through a typical securitization vehicle, e.g., SPV in Luxembourg, and execute deals cleanly via true sale of loan receivables in order to lower the risk weights of a transaction.
4) Relationship Management & Growth
Manage existing client relationships post-close: renewals, upsizes, amendments, additional products, and cross-sell where appropriate.
Drive client reviews and performance monitoring in partnership with Portfolio Management/Risk.
Build durable senior relationships with CEOs/CFOs/Heads of Funding/Treasury and become a trusted funding partner.
5) Governance, Conduct & Discipline
Ensure all activities align with bank governance standards, reputational risk considerations, and regulatory expectations.
Maintain strong CRM discipline, pipeline hygiene, and probability-weighted forecasting.
Contribute to repeatable origination playbooks, market-entry strategies, and continuous improvement of WSB coverage processes.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
5+ years in credit origination / structured finance / private credit / specialty finance / bank wholesale lending, with a demonstrated track record in new business generation.
Strong commercial judgement and ability to run senior client conversations and negotiations.
Understanding of secured lending structures and portfolio-backed credit (performance metrics, collateral controls, reporting, covenants).
Experience executing cross-border transactions and coordinating multi-stakeholder closing processes.
Network across European financial sponsors, debt advisors, fintech/NBFI ecosystems and related service providers is a plus.
Strong ownership mindset; thrives in a target-driven, execution-focused environment.
English required; additional European languages are an advantage. Willingness to travel frequently.
Strategic Importance
This role is a key growth driver for WSB. By originating high-quality secured lending opportunities—with NBFIs as the core focus while retaining flexibility across adjacent wholesale asset classes—the RM directly supports balance sheet deployment, sustainable revenue growth, and expansion of Multitude Bank’s European wholesale franchise.
