We have a job opening for the position of Data Analyst I with Summit Reinsurance Services, a division of Companion Life and a subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.
In this position, you will analyze current operational functions, identify opportunities for improvement, and assist with implementing enhancements. Additionally, you will maintain databases and extract data for analysis. You will run and review reports, analyzing results to support operational functions.

Description
Location: This is a full-time position (40 hours/week), Monday through Friday. The role is on-site at 6920 Pointe Inverness Way, Suite 140, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.
What You’ll Do:
- Extract data from multiple systems and departments using various data manipulation and extraction techniques for regular, cyclical, and ad hoc reporting.
- Perform research, analyze reports, and develop statistical models for presentation and review.
- Summarize findings and clearly communicate results to management.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and leverage tools and analytical methods to improve processes.
- Collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams regarding reporting outcomes and insights
To Qualify For This Position, You'll Need The Following:
- Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field
- Degree Equivalency: 4 years of job-related work experience, or an Associate’s degree with 2 years of job-related work experience
- Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational, customer service, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations and understand statistical concepts
- Working knowledge of relevant computer systems and data tools
- Microsoft Office
- Ability to learn programming skills across various software platforms
- Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion
We Prefer That You Have The Following:
- Preferred Work Experience: 2 years of related research and analysis experience
- Preferred Skills and Abilities: Negotiation or persuasion skills and Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding
- Preferred Software and Tools: Experience with SAS, DB2, or other relational databases
