The Global Trade Specialist is an important role in the global logistics supply chain. This individual will implement the strategy as defined by the Global Trade Compliance Leader - Ketjen while handling the company's trade compliance activities in the region. This trade role reports to the Global Trade Compliance Leader - Ketjen and is governed by policies and frameworks established by Ketjen.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures compliance with safety, security and regulatory requirements including but not limited to trade compliance and customs regulations.
- Collaboration with regional Business Leaders to provide appropriate guidance in order to deliver safe, compliant, and sustainable supply chain solutions for customers and business
- Liaises with customs brokers and supply chain to ensure partners performance is aligned with our expectations.
- Assist the Global Trade Compliance Leader in implementing best practices to drive productivity, streamline opportunities, eliminate non-value added services and control costs through the development of metrics around efficiency and reliability.
- Works under minimal direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions for the region.
- Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy, and accuracy.
- Openly shares know-how and encourages technical sharing.
- Proficient at collaborating with business and liaison for custom brokers.
- Ability to develop and document internal SOPs.
- Prepare responses and collect information for customs requests.
ADDITIONAL, EDUCATION, SKILLS, CAPABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain / logistics or equivalent by experience
- Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in Trade Compliance covering APAC; Chemical industry experience is a plus.
- Data driven, addresses partner and customer needs
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good negotiation and influential skills
- Knowledge of SAP or other ERP system, GTS is a plus.
- Proficient User of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Good team player but still can work independently
- Ability to participate in cross-functional, team-oriented environment
- Ability to interact with multiple levels of leadership internally and externally
- Acquisition, integration and ERP implementation experience a plus
- Applied trade compliance analytical abilities in some or all of the following areas: HTS Classification, Export control, Restricted Party Screening, Free Trade Agreements, Country of Origin, and/or Broker Accountability.
