Position Summary

Coastal Health is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our corporate office. The Referral Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating patient referrals, ensuring timely communication between providers, insurance companies, and specialty offices, and helping patients navigate the referral process.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and process patient referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers.
  • Review referral orders for accuracy and completeness.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and verify referral requirements as needed.
  • Communicate with insurance companies, referring providers, and specialty offices.
  • Schedule appointments and follow up on outstanding referrals.
  • Track referral status to ensure timely completion.
  • Communicate referral information and updates to patients.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Identify and resolve referral issues or delays.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff, front office teams, and providers.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a medical office, referral coordination, or healthcare administrative role preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance referrals and authorizations preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Qualifications

Minimum 1-3 years experience in a medical office preferred. High school diploma or equivalent, Customer service, Oral and Written communication skills, Knowledge of medical terminology, Data entry skills, Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and teamwork.
