This position is a covered position as defined in the Coquille Indian Tribe Chapter 185 Child Protection Ordinance. Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen, Criminal, and Character Background Check.
SUMMARY OF MAJOR FUNCTIONS
Under the direct supervision of the Behavioral Health Executive Director, the Behavioral Health Receptionist performs receptionist and clerical duties and serves as the primary point of contact for the Behavioral Health Department. Assists with patient and staff needs as directed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives, greets, and directs visitors. Checks in patients, confirms registration, and processes intake paperwork.
- Operates the phone system; triages and routes incoming calls to appropriate individuals and/or departments; records and distributes messages to appropriate staff.
- Utilizes electronic health record and patient management systems to schedule and reschedule appointments and update patient charts and information.
- Rooms patients as needed.
- Maintains organization, security, and confidentiality of all medical records and client records.
- Opens and closes the Ko-Kwel Wellness Behavioral Health Department according to established operating procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to communicate orally and perform repetitive movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The position frequently requires walking, standing, sitting for extended periods, and raising or lowering objects. The employee may occasionally be required to lift up to 25 pounds and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Work is generally performed in a medical center or office. Work involves occasional exposure to infectious disease. The individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position safely, efficiently, and accurately. - Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and objectivity under constant pressure and crisis situations. A breach of confidentiality or fraud is grounds for immediate dismissal.
- Ability to make decisions independently in accordance with established policy and procedures.
- Ability to effectively use electronic health record and patient management systems, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other computer applications necessary to perform the duties of the position.
- High School Diploma or GED with medical and behavioral health training required.
- Experience with Electronic Health Record and Electronic Patient Management Systems required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a medical front office required.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, which include proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Multi-line phone skills are required.
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, including ICD-10 and CPT codes, is required.
- Required to accept the responsibility of a mandatory reporter of abuse and neglect of infants and children, people who are elderly or dependent, individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities, or residents of nursing homes and other health care facilities. This includes reporting any evidence of physical injury, neglect, sexual or emotional abuse, or financial exploitation.
- First Aid/CPR certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Current and valid Oregon driver’s license in good standing with no insurability issues as determined by the Tribe’s insurance carrier is required.
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) preferred.
