This position reports to:
R&D Team Lead__
This position is attached to the motion research department of ABB group. You will be a power electronics scientist working with global and local research teams.
Your responsibilities
Conduct research and technology development in the field of power electronics used in variable speed drives.
Study the basic principle and analyze the root causes of existing issues in products.
Track cutting-edge technology in variable speed drives. Scan local science and technology progress in power electronics relevant for variable speed drives.
Build long-term collaborations with global research teams and local academic societies.
Execute research projects and keep communicating and networking with all related stakeholders.
Adhere to ABB integrity and compliance policies.
Qualifications for the role
Ph.D. degree in power electronics or other related electrical engineering majors.
Solid theoretical background in the following areas with publications in renowned transactions / journals.
Variable speed drive topologies
Magnetic component design
Power semiconductors application (Such as device modeling, gate drive, heat dissipation design, condition monitoring, failure analysis, etc.)
AC/DC and DC/DC power converters
EMC design
Experiences of the following areas is a plus:
PCBA design
General programming skills on DSP or FPGA.
Hands-on experience in commissioning.
Self-motivated, high curiosity and able to work under pressure.
Team player with communication and interpersonal skills
Good in both oral and written English
