About Aladdin Financial Engineering (AFE):
Join a diverse and collaborative team of over 300 modelers and technologists in Aladdin Financial Engineering (AFE) within BlackRock Solutions, the business responsible for the research and development of Aladdin’s financial models. This group is also accountable for analytics production, enhancing the infrastructure platform and delivering analytics content to portfolio and risk management professionals (both within BlackRock and across the Aladdin client community). The models developed and supported by AFE span a wide array of financial products covering equities, fixed income, commodities, derivatives, and private markets. AFE provides investment insights that range from an analysis of cash flows on a single bond, to the overall financial risk associated with an entire portfolio, balance sheet, or enterprise.
Role Description:
We are looking for a person to join the Advanced Data Analytics team within AFE. Advanced Data Analytics is a team of Quantitative Data Engineers, apply deep financial and statistical expertise, leverage robust & scalable cloud infrastructure and AI-enabled data engineering to deliver trusted research and production data, as well as commercial data solutions and APIs, across structured products, public credit, and private markets for Security, Liquidity and Portfolio Analytics as well as Energy and Climate models. We unify reference, collateral, financial, asset, ESG and macro inputs into curated analytics datasets that power investment intelligence, model development, and faster decision-making for BlackRock teams and Aladdin clients. The team uses various statistical/mathematical methodologies to derive insights and generate content to help develop predictive models, clustering, and classification solutions and enable Governance.
This is a VP level position, and the individual will contribute as SME on Portfolio Risk Analytics data. The person will leverage Big Data technologies, Data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks to build out comprehensive analytics offering backed by enhanced data as well as leverage AI for efficiency and agentic automation. The person will partner with Investment teams and clients to help generate Investment Intelligence.
- 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Quantitative Analytics, or Financial Technology environments.
- Strong programming expertise in Scala with a solid understanding of Functional Programming concepts.
- Hands-on experience with Spark and distributed computing frameworks for large-scale data processing.
- Strong knowledge of ETL development, data curation, analytics pipelines, and production data workflows.
- Experience with enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake, Cassandra, and cloud-based solutions including Databricks or Dataproc.
- Familiarity with AI/ML workflows, data governance, and automation frameworks to enhance analytics and operational efficiency.
- Working knowledge of financial instruments (e.g., Bonds, Derivatives, Credit Products) and portfolio risk analytics data.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative reasoning skills.
- Experience building scalable data products and analytics solutions using modern big data technologies.
- Understanding of statistical methodologies and their application to financial or analytics use cases.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across technology, quantitative, and investment teams.

- Master's degree in finance / economics / statistics / financial engineering / math finance / engineering
