Job Description
The Quality Manager provides leadership and guidance for the department, improves core processes, and manages projects. They will accept ownership of ensuring the staff is developed in all quality assurance functions. This person also works to develop a clear understanding of the business and technical aspects of the quality assurance function to support the entire organization.
Responsibilities
- Exhibit strong communication and problem-solving skills while leading the Quality department toward company goals and objectives.
- Identify areas of continuous improvement within the quality department and in the Quality Management System.
- Provide development and training for the quality team and other departments in all areas of quality. Develop goals for the Quality department based on company objectives and ensure achievement.
- Manage the internal audit system and assure timely completion of audits. Submit findings and corrective action requests to management. Oversee supplier audits and participate in both audit teams.
- Assure monthly metric data entry of the cost of quality information is reviewed and completed on time. Evaluate current data and trends to suggest improvement ideas or corrective action activities to be worked on with a cross-functional team.
- Champion scrap reduction efforts as a collaborative effort with other departments. Be involved in new product gate reviews, review all new jobs for proper documentation, and ensure the customer's needs are addressed. Also, identify and gauge needs for new and existing work.
- Work with customers on deviation approvals for dimensional and cosmetic issues, discuss possible engineering changes to improve part manufactureability and address any concerns about shipping preservation or part quality.
- ·Assure and assist in the timely completion of part quality documentation requirements, including but not limited to ballooned drawings, inspection check sheets, SPC charts, process flow diagrams, process failure mode and effects analysis, process control plans, dimensional layout requirements, part submission warrants, capability study, and measurement system analysis.
- Improve the Statistical Process Control activities and ensure that data analysis is completed in order to identify possible process improvements.

Qualifications
- Obtain, analyze, and coordinate corrective action on deviations from quality standards. Effectively communicates relevant information to the management team.
- Participates in reviewing all design, manufacturing, purchasing, and test documentation and procedures to ensure that the customer's quality requirements are met, both for current and new customers. Strives for continuous improvement in overall defect reduction, monitors defect-reduction procedure effectiveness, and implements appropriate adjustments.
- Communicate with customer representatives via email or customer-specific portals regarding quality-related issues and concerns. Communicate in a timely manner with customers regarding open or pending action items.
- Works with Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Production Staff to troubleshoot issues on the production floor.
- Ensures that supplier quality problems are investigated, trends are tracked, and issues resolved to supply quality parts.
- Establish and track departmental goals and objectives that provide world-class quality and technical services performance to the organization.
- Plans and coordinates work, trains, motivates, counsels, monitors, and evaluates the performance of all supervised employees.
- Capable of developing strategies to achieve organizational goals and adapting strategies to meet changing conditions.
- Problem solving and analyses, careful and systematic evaluation of information, offering possible alternatives and consequences.
- Demonstrates polished presentation skills and the ability to communicate to an audience formally.
- Strong commitment to providing world-class customer service, anticipating customer needs, and designing, promoting, or supporting the delivery of products and services that exceed their expectations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree desirable
- 5+ years experience in quality working in the manufacturing environment
- Excellent leadership skills, including project planning and the ability to adopt new technologies to managers, employees, and other logistics and materials professionals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
