Role Overview

Manages quality operations and activities across a manufacturing function or discipline through quality professionals, supervisors, and technical staff. Responsible for executing quality strategy, developing team capabilities, improving quality systems, and ensuring products and processes meet customer, regulatory, and operational requirements. Partners cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and Program teams to drive quality performance and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do...

• Manage daily quality operations, priorities, and workforce planning to support manufacturing objectives

• Lead quality professionals, supervisors, technicians, and inspectors responsible for product and process quality

• Develop and implement quality standards, procedures, and control systems aligned with AS9100, ISO9001, and customer requirements

• Establish and mature APQP processes, including development and execution of control plans, inspection strategies, and quality planning activities

• Monitor quality performance metrics, identify trends, and drive improvements to reduce defects and customer impacts

• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to identify and resolve product and process issues

• Lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and preventive improvement initiatives

• Ensure effective implementation of nonconformance processes, quality documentation, and compliance requirements

• Manage internal, customer, and third-party audit activities and support successful audit outcomes

• Review and approve quality procedures, inspection plans, specifications, and process documentation

• Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives that increase process capability and product reliability

• Coach and mentor quality team members while establishing accountability and a culture of quality ownership

• Support integration of quality processes, systems, and culture across acquired or newly integrated business operations

• Manage department resources, priorities, and operational execution to meet business goals

You have...

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered

Experience

• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related quality, manufacturing, or engineering experience, including leadership responsibilities; or equivalent work experience

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of quality management systems, manufacturing processes, and regulatory requirements

• Proven experience with AS9100, ISO9001, or similar quality standards

• Experience leading APQP activities, control plans, and quality planning processes

• Strong knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective action, and continuous improvement methodologies

• Experience managing quality teams and developing technical talent

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements

• Strong project management and organizational skills

• Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership abilities

• Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice to have...

• Aerospace, aviation, defense, or automotive manufacturing leadership experience

• Experience managing quality organizations supporting production and new product introduction

• Experience leading customer, certification, and regulatory audits

• Experience with quality software systems, MES, and digital quality tools

• Lean Six Sigma certification or other process improvement certification

• Experience integrating quality systems following acquisitions or organizational growth

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $130,000-$170,000 base salary.  Please note that wage information is a general guideline only, and we will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market conditions when extending an offer.
