We believe in finding the best talent! Employees within a 90-minute radius of our Oak Brook, IL headquarters are required to adhere to the company in-office work guidelines of 4 days per month minimum from 10 am to 2 pm (1 of the 4 days must be a Monday or Friday). This requirement does not apply to support specialist positions.

Job Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary
We are seeking a talented and experienced Quality Engineer II to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our software products through a combination of hands-on manual and automated development .
You will collaborate closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and other Quality Engineers to design and execute effective test strategies, identify risks early, and continuously improve testing practices. This role is ideal for a quality engineer who enjoys being deeply technical, thrives in an Agile environment, and is ready to take on increased ownership while continuing to grow toward technical or leadership advancement.
You will join an experienced Quality Engineering team responsible for delivering high-quality, defect-free software through smoke, functional , regression, and integration testing across multiple platforms.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans, test cases, and test scenarios based on product requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts using open-source tools and frameworks.
  • Perform manual and automated testing , including functional , regression, smoke, integration, and basic performance testing.
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of automated test suites and frameworks to improve test coverage and efficiency.
  • Ensure proper version control of automation code and adherence to code quality and testing best practices.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Software Engineers to clarify requirements, identify risks, and define test coverage.
  • Identify , document, track, and verify software defects using bug tracking tools, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies , including daily standups, story refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Perform thorough regression testing following defect fixes and feature enhancements.
  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful quality feedback.
  • Assist in estimating testing effort and providing input on testing timelines and risks.
  • Support and mentor junior Quality Engineers through knowledge sharing, pairing, and code reviews.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging tools, and best practices in software quality engineering.

Preferred Qualifications
Skills
  • Strong Automation Skills - Ability to design and maintain automated tests using modern open-source tools; experience with TypeScript and Python preferred, with Playwright a plus.
  • Analytical Thinking - Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and assess risk.
  • Attention to Detail - A meticulous approach to validating functionality and identifying defects.
  • Collaboration - Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Communication - Clear verbal and written communication of issues, risks, and test results.
  • Adaptability - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Documentation - Proficiency in producing high-quality testing documentation.
  • Cloud & Environment Awareness - Familiarity with cloud-based environments, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP) .
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset - Commitment to learning and improving testing practices and technical skills.

Education and Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience in software quality engineering
  • Practical AI experience required - Comfortable using tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT for prototyping, debugging, and problem-solving
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience

Other Requirements:
  • Infrequent travel (10%)
  • Ability to occasionally work overtime or after hours
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Compensation & Benefits
$78,000-$102,000 per year
