As Quality Engineer I, you will be responsible for ensuring that products and services meet established quality standards. This involves designing, implementing, and maintaining quality control processes, conducting inspections and tests, analyzing data, and collaborating with various teams to resolve quality issues. The Quality Engineer also plays a key role in continuous improvement efforts by proactively identifying areas for enhancement and recommending process adjustments.

Reporting directly to the Director of Quality, this position is based in Shreveport, LA.


This position is open to candidates who are authorized to work and reside in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina,  North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin or Wyoming. Due to payroll, tax, and employment law requirements, applicants must be located in one of these states at the time of hire.

 

 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:


  • Work with department personnel and request an appropriate headcount as needed to support customer demand and schedule attainment.
  • Provide training and support to quality assurance/control team members, focusing on systems, policies, procedures, and core processes.
  • Ensure cross training for every workstation.
  • Drive employee engagement.
  • Provide continuous learning opportunities for employees.
  • Maintain 5S to ensure cleanliness and part presentation.
  • Ensure PPE compliance and tooling and other powered equipment is properly maintained.
  • Review first pass yield (FPY) and work with teams on countermeasures to prevent and improve.
  • Responsible for daily tactical issues related to internal and external quality.
  • Improve product quality by making recommendations for change.
  • Conduct proactive audits to detect gaps early and ensure continuous process improvement.
  • Monitor non-conforming.
  • Take a proactive approach by preventing defects from the start of the development process rather than finding them later.
  • Work with relevant teams to develop and implement corrective and preventative action (CAPA) plans to address identified issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Conducts and leads process improvement efforts as an individual and through teams to complete initiatives.
  • Must be able to work off-schedule hours to meet goals and objectives.
  • Develops and sustains a Quality Management System (QMS) to ISO standards.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 8 years’ experience in lieu of degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience in quality

Skills & Abilities:

  • C.Q.E. and/or Quality Assurance training with certificate underway or completed a plus.
  • Knowledge of statistical software.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes. 
  • Knowledgeable of MS Office products. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management

Working Conditions:

  • Factory/office work environment
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime, flexible hours, and/or overtime on short notice.
  • Ability to work throughout a manufacturing environment, including standing, walking, kneeling, and navigating production areas
  • Must be able to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
