Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Quality Control Specialist Supervisor in our Crop Insurance Quality Control & Compliance team.


This job is primarily responsible for performing compliance functions as found in the Standard Re-Insurance Agreement (SRA).  Comprised of all SRA required reviews and claim reviews.  In some cases, this job will coordinate with claims personnel to ensure timely completion of reviews and expedite claim processing.  This job will provide leadership and supervision for direct and indirect staff.   


Location: This position may be based remotely; however, if you are located near the Lubbock, TX, office, you will be expected to work in a hybrid capacity. We strive for collaboration which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long lasting careers.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for supervision oversight of the approval and processing of compliance reviews (APH Reviews, Claim Reviews, other internal reviews); which includes analyzing completed reviews and supporting documentation to make an independent determination of whether or not the review is complete pursuant to RMA rules and guidelines. 
  • Provides consultation and expert advice to both adjusters and quality control review personnel regarding RMA rules and guidelines as well as AgriSompo proprietary systems and processes.
  • Approve and process compliance reviews, which includes analyzing documents provided by the insured, supporting policy documentation and field reviews to make an independent determination of whether the underlying documentation supports the applicable compliance review.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations regarding quality control review documentation, including whether the documentation is reasonable, accurate, and conforms to RMA prescribed policies and procedures. 
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of Quality Control Reviews to expedite claim processing by developing systems and processes to prioritize significant or sensitive matters that include researching each Quality Control Review in order to make decisions or recommendations (as applicable) on status and next steps on each review. 

Additional Duties:

  • Provide training to compliance staff, underwriters, and claims processors relative to internal review process.
  • Assist in management of all compliance related reviews as well as the development and revision of policies and procedures for the general operation of the Quality Control department.
  • Provide regular reports to National Compliance managers and review supervisors.
  • Collaborate and test IT fixes and enhancements related to Quality Control processes.
  • Provide strong customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Support Quality Control Supervisors by assigning and/or reassigning compliance reviews to Field Compliance Reviewers, as needed.
  • Oversee staffing activities (hiring, training, employee performance management, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, etc.); where applicable.

What you’ll bring:

  • Preferred - Associate’s Degree in Agriculture or similar field.
  • Preferred – 2-3 years’ experience with Multi-Peril Crop Insurance in Claims auditing and/or underwriting. 
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization. 
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. – Outlook, pdf program Strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple assignments and coordinate several projects with changing priorities. 
  • Ability to work both autonomously and effectively in a team environment.

The physical environment requires the employee to work inside where there are limited extremes to heat and/or cold; moderate noise; a normal office environment.
