As part of the Australia Munition business (AM) at our cutting-edge facilities in Benalla and Mulwala, we produce world-class propellants, explosives, and munitions for both defence and commercial applications. YOUR ROLE:

Reporting to the Head of Quality – Australian Munitions the Quality Assurance Manager role is responsible to be a trusted advisor to stakeholders by providing independent Quality Assurance, an accurate view of performance, championing customer satisfaction and reducing quality risks across the role scope. Ensure adoption of the Quality Policy and Management System, tailoring to meet customer needs and appropriately balance efficiency, competitiveness drivers and compliance obligations. Support building the Quality Capabilities, Competencies and Continuous Improvement Culture, both within the QCS team and across the businesses, whilst ensuring retention of ISO9001 certification.

  • Promoting the Quality direction, influencing culture and leadership mindsets within role scope.
  • Assuring products and services meet customer quality expectations and projects follow management
  • system processes.
  • Ensuring key Bids meet minimum process expectations and submissions include appropriate quality
  • needs so Projects are viable.
  • Ensuring the Quality Advice is completed objectively without bias and without surprise to stakeholders.
  • Promoting a Quality Culture within the role scope, partnering to drive preventive action and the elimination of waste – uplifting ‘Right First Time’ performance and reducing the Cost of Non-Quality (CoNQ).
  • Ensuring the management system is effective within the role scope areas and applied to retain applicable Quality certification e.g. ISO9001 and AS9110.
  • Supporting an effective management review process to underpin the Quality Policy and continuously improve the management system effectiveness.

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Experience in quality management, preferably in a systems engineering/industrial organisation.
  • Proven experience of engaging and influencing stakeholders – Ability to shape mindsets & culture.
  • Minimum 5 years in a similar Quality or Program Management related role, preferably in a systems engineering/industrial organisation.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance throughout the life cycle of bids, projects and product and correct process tailoring is applied to Bids and Projects.
  • A good understanding of process improvement principles and methodologies – ideally including Lean and Business Excellence - Lean Six Sigma Green Belt qualifications is desirable.
  • Detailed knowledge of the requirements of ISO 9001 with demonstrated ability to translate into language that resonates with stakeholders.

Skills Required

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering or a related technical discipline
