The Role

We’re looking for a QA Lead / Manager to lead and grow game/content QA function for Nex Playground—a living-room motion gaming platform built for families and friends.

This is a people-manager role with hands-on leadership expectations: you will be accountable for team performance, scalable QA practices, and release readiness across multiple game teams and releases. While you should be comfortable getting close to the work and understanding defects deeply, success in this role comes from coaching, prioritizing, and building systems that improve quality over time.

You’ll partner closely with Production, Game Design, Engineering, and Operations to define quality bars, manage risk, and ensure every release feels polished, stable, and fun.

What you’ll do

Leadership & Management

  • Manage and develop a team of QA engineers: hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career growth.
  • Build and maintain scalable QA processes: test planning, regression strategy, test case management, triage cadence, release gates and reporting.
  • Set clear expectations for bug quality, test coverage, and release execution, and coach the team to meet a high quality bar.
  • Own QA capacity planning and resource allocation across games, features, and deadlines.

Quality Strategy & Cross-Functional Execution

  • Lead cross-functional defect triage: ensure high-quality reproduction, verification, and closure standards.
  • Drive test strategy for motion-based games and content: including responsiveness/latency, recognition consistency, occlusion handling, multi-player and environmental variability.
  • Ensure strong coverage for functional, usability, regression, localization, and compatibility testing across the game surface area.
  • Track and communicate quality health via concise dashboards (e.g., crash/hang rates, P0/P1 aging, reopen rate, RC burndown, build stability), and translate metrics into actions.
What we’re looking for
  • 5+ years in game industry/interactive entertainment, including 2+ years in a lead/manager role (or equivalent ownership).
  • Proven experience shipping multiple releases with strong quality outcomes.
  • Strong command of QA methodologies: functional, regression, usability, compatibility, localization, and release gating.
  • Demonstrated ability to build/scale QA processes and improve outcomes over time (metrics-driven when appropriate).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills—able to align teams on priorities, tradeoffs and risk.
  • Comfort validating living-room hardware setups and real-world environmental variability (network, TV/display settings, space constraints).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to drive root-cause improvements.
  • Fluent written/spoken English.
Nice to have
  • Experience with motion/camera-based games, AR, CV-driven interactions, or latency-sensitive input systems.
  • Experience with Unity pipelines and tooling, or Android-based consumer hardware.
  • Experience with multiplayer/party games and usability-focused design validation.
  • Experience coordinating external vendors or distributed QA teams.
What you’ll bring
  • A high bar for quality paired with pragmatic decision-making.
  • A coaching mindset and clarity in expectations.
  • Strong instincts for player experience—especially for party/family-friendly titles.
We Offer
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Flexible working hours and vacation policy.
  • Product-driven culture that treasures talents and individual growth.
  • Front-row seat and hands-on experience with cutting edge technologies in the evolving gaming field
