**This Position is On-Site at Summit Hospital in Show Low, AZ**
Coordinates the day to day task functionality of the Eligibility Services department. Maintains thorough working knowledge of department policies and procedures. Maintains thorough working knowledge of relevant federal, state, and county benefit program requirements as well as Charity / Hospital Financial Assistance programs. Collaborates with SMARTS , and shares information with colleagues and Supervisors. Assists with quality assurance audits and team productivity. Assists with various reporting, projects, and DIBS. Acts as floater to erase deficiencies when work volume spikes or staffing gaps are present. Subject matter expert for system build partnership, workflow enhancement management, and partnering with external departments for build resolution.
Essential Job Functions:
- Reviews all referred uninsured/underinsured patients for potential program eligibility opportunities.
- Initializes and coordinates the application process to facilitate accurate and appropriate submissions.
- Effectively communicates with the patient to obtain documents that must accompany the application.
- Follows submitted applications to determination point, updates applicable insurance information and ensures timely billing or adjustment posting.
- Documents all relevant actions and communication steps in assigned patient accounting systems.
- Maintains working knowledge of all state & federal program requirements; shares information with colleagues and supervisors.
- Maintains working knowledge of assigned health system's financial assistance policy and application requirements.
- Develops & maintains proactive working relationship with county/state/federal Medicaid caseworker partners.
- Works collaboratively with other revenue cycle departments and associates with a special emphasis on Case Management and Patient Access.
Minimum years and type of experience:
- High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in healthcare industry, interacting with patients regarding hospital financial issues.
- 1-2 years of people management experience
Other knowledge, skills, and abilities preferred:
- Understanding of Revenue Cycle including admission, billing, payments and denials.
- Comprehensive knowledge of patient insurance process for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification.
- Knowledge of Health Insurance requirements. Knowledge of medical terminology or CPT or procedure codes.
- Patient Access experience with managed care/insurance and Call Center experience highly preferred.
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Combination of post-secondary education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Certifications:
- CRCR within 9 months of hire (Company Paid)
