Job DescriptionWhat does the Provider Relations & Engagement team do at Wellmark? This team drives strategic initiatives for Wellmark's relationships with network participating providers as well as provider communication and education efforts. This role will actively partner with multiple areas across the division including Network Economics, Provider Relations, Payment Integrity, Government Network teams and Network Performance teams. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in healthcare, relationship management, provider engagement, or business operations who want to learn how providers and health plans partner to deliver better outcomes for the members and patients they serve.
What projects might I support While projects may vary, examples of your contributions could include:
- Gain day to day experiences of collaborating various leaders and teams; focus on small scale deliverables, building interpersonal relationships, exposure to cross divisional elements of the Wellmark organization
- Support team the team in evolving a provider dashboard that consolidates clinical and operational performance data
- Collaboration with the IT and data analytics teams to provide input for design and implementation of user-friendly interfaces and data visualization tools
- Conduct user testing and gather feedback to refine the dashboard
- Assist the team in elevating the launch of the network CRM tool with provider-facing teams, a tool that’s crucial for improving engagement and streamlining communication with providers
- Load provider data into the CRM system, ensuring that all relevant information is up-to-date and accurate
- Update the Network CRM user guide and instructions, providing clear and concise user-friendly documentation

This internship will start in May of 2027, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines.
Qualifications- Current junior, senior or Master’s pursuing Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health, Communications, Marketing, MIS, Analytics or a related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with the business areas.
- Experience developing and modifying communications technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Effective organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects that meet timelines and objectives.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with others to create new ideas and improve current processes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites; Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Preferred
- Familiar with technical terminology and concepts and have handled technical communications such as product updates, software rollouts, etc.
- Prior Internship or office experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Practical experience using AI tools
