We're looking for someone who is well rounded in Agile methodologies with emphasis on scrum master and release train knowledge and skills. Our IT organization is highly collaborative and moves fast on ideating and developing modern solutions to solve complex business needs. It is imperative we are able to do so iteratively at a high rate of speed and degree of quality. You will be a critical part in Agile teams to the next level in this position.

As the Lead Scrum Master you may be an individual contributor or work across multiple/portfolio of team(s) including Product Owners, stakeholders, other Scrum Masters, and the Program Team to iteratively and incrementally deliver value. Be the catalyst for change by making the evolving processes work for the entire team. Act as the servant leader for aligned team(s) by creating an environment that empowers and energizes team members, with a focus on accountability, adaptability, collaboration, and high-performing. Share learnings with a community of like-minded Scrum Masters to accelerate Humana's agile transformation. Drive the implementation of various frameworks in order to focus on value, flow, quality, predictability, modern engineering practices, and driving continuous improvement of your team(s).

Responsibilities

Humana is looking for a Lead Scrum Master whose responsibilities include:

  • Guide the team(s) to use Scrum and SAFe practices and patterns to deliver high-quality products and services to our customers.
  • Navigate easily through different coaching stances deliberately (coaching, mentoring, teaching, facilitating) while growing the agile skills and mindset of team members.
  • Create an environment that empowers and energizes team members, with a focus on accountability, adaptability, and collaboration.
  • Get team(s) to a high-performing level by nurturing self-organization and team cohesion.
  • Facilitate and support all Scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. Supports PI Planning, System Demos and Inspect and Adapt sessions.
  • Mentor the Product Owner in user story creation, prioritization and Product Backlog refinement ensuring the team focuses on technical needs, including improvements to testing and deployment processes.
  • Facilitate team productivity by removing impediments that may obstruct the pursuit of the team's goals and by preserving flexibility and ability to rapidly respond to changes.
  • Utilize data and make recommendations on team metrics to demonstrate team capacity, predictability, & maturity.
  • Make work visible to ensure impediments are removed and progress is visible.
  • Lead teams through organizational change leveraging change management frameworks such as Kotter's Leading Change and PROSCI ADKAR.
  • Collaborate with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches to contribute to the improvement of Agile practices within the organization, including through Communities of Practice.
  • Advises executives to develop functional strategies on matters of significance
  • Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision
  • Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.



Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a scrum master and/or Release Train Engineer
  • 3+ years of experience working with agile methodologies on large scale, technically complex projects
  • Expertise in understanding of agile methodologies, values, practices and patterns.
  • Expertise in coaching and mentoring others
  • Expertise in ability to facilitate the removal of impediments
  • Advanced facilitation, presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills.
  • Thrives in an VUCA environment (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous)
  • Validated agile learning/credentials such as CSM, A-CSM, SA, PSM, IC Agile such as ACC (IC-Agile , IC-Agile ATF(Agile Team Facilitator)
  • Expertise with Agile Tracking tools (agile lifecycle management tools) such as ADO, Jira, VersionOne(Digital.ai), Rally


Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience on a Scrum Team
  • 8+ year working in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment
  • Scaled Agile (SAFe) certification(s): RTE and/or SPC
  • Experience leveraging data and making recommendations regarding team metrics to demonstrate team capacity, predictability & maturity
  • Agile coaching experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Expertise with Portfolio Tools such as AHA, Service Now, Jira Align, PlanView/Leankit
  • Experience with Lean and implementing a process improvement mindset
  • Experience with testing practices (Gherkin) and DevOps.
  • Experience with Azure Dev Ops as a product backlog tool.
  • Bachelors' Degree in Business, Agile, Project Management, Development or a related field is preferred
