The Role

Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is seeking a Project Manager a potential World Health Organization (WHO) project. The project's objective is to provide support for the operationalization of the Open Digital Health Summit (ODHS) and associated curriculum strategy in 2025-2027.

 

This work directly supports the WHO Global Health Strategy for 2025 – 2028 and will drive measurable impact at country level by supporting Member States in developing resilient, essential digital health infrastructure in support of prioritized health sector objectives that are aligned with the emerging WHO-ITU Reference Architecture for digital health transformation, and other existing WHO and ITU normative guidance including SMART guidelines. It includes support for developing and maintaining relevant associated operational guidance, including Reference Architecture for Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and the WHO Classification of digital interventions, services and applications in health (CDISAH).

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Manager leads and manages the project and is accountable for project deliverables and results, with full accountability and authority for the development, execution, and monitoring of the project, including vision and technical strategy; project management; documentation and communication; and client relationships.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Project Results:

a. Oversee implementation of program activities and provides high quality technical and strategic leadership, managerial oversight, and administration of the project.

b. Serve as the primary project liaison from MSH to the donor and be accountable for the achievement of results, ensuring quality of services is maintained at the highest standard, and that all project objectives and deliverables are met on time.

c. Safeguard MSH’s reputation by ensuring that financial, contractual, technical, and political integrity is maintained and strengthened.

2. Technical Strategy and Vision:

a. Lead development of implementation plan, training materials (tools, manuals, Standard Operating Processes, facilitators guides and curriculum developed for all necessary parties to enable project success) and other contract deliverables as per contract requirements, MSH technical frameworks and standards.

b. Ensure appropriate and timely documentation and dissemination of key results and deliverables for maximum project impact and business development using a variety of communication strategies and media.

3. Project and People Management:

a. Ensure effective contract implementation in strict compliance with contract clauses, donor policies, and MSH Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

b. Ensure project staffing, structure and reporting relationships are aligned with project needs, local context and available resources.

c. Manage and mentor the project team as per MSH policies and guidelines and implement an effective performance-management program including regular check-ins, annual appraisals, supportive supervision, rewards, training, coaching and career development support.

4. Client and other Stakeholder Relationships:

a. Build and maintain strong working relations with key internal and external stakeholders, beneficiaries, prime and subcontractors, suppliers and partners. Provide effective and timely responses to inquiries and concerns.

b. Identify and keep track of new business opportunities, communicating them to the relevant internal MSH stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced university degree in Public Health, Digital Health or a health-related field  
  • Desirable: staffing with advanced degree in informatics, computer science, regulatory policy, biomedical engineering, medicine, nursing, or pharmacy sciences 

EXPERIENCE

  • Essential experience: Over 10 years’ experience in digital health, including working on specifications for digital solutions, interoperability standards, and regulatory policies 
  • Desirable experience: At least 5 years working experience in healthcare settings, including working with Low- and Middle-income countries 
  • Prior MSH experience is strongly preferred.
