The Role
Manage and coordinate REACH/biocides consortia activities: administrative and financial coordination, stakeholder communications, meeting facilitation, contract support, risk identification/escalation, technical coordination with participants and experts, regulatory support, and contribution to new service development to help clients meet chemical regulatory obligations.
Summary Generated by Built In

ReachCentrum was created in June 2006 by Cefic (the European Chemical Industry Council) to help companies all through the value chain to prepare and implement REACH and Biocides. Since 2015, ReachCentrum is owned by Environmental Resources Management (ERM), the world’s leading global provider of environmental, health, safety, risk, social consulting services and sustainability related services.

REACH is a European Union regulation adopted to protect human health and environment against the risks that chemical substances pose, and to improve the competitiveness of the chemical industry in the EU.

ReachCentrum’s professionals help businesses in the chemical industry navigate through the business implications of REACH, CLP and Biocides legislation and processes.

REACH mandates chemical companies to register their substances manufactured or imported in a joined effort with other potential registrants of the same substance. In order to prepare the necessary communication and decision making processes, companies organize themselves in REACH consortia.

Currently ReachCentrum is managing about 100 consortia, which require tailored advice on regulatory compliance at all stages of the REACH Regulation. To strengthen its expertise in the chemicals regulatory field and enhance the support provided to clients, ReachCentrum is seeking an experienced Consortia Project Manager to be part of its dynamic team.

As a Project Manager / Consultant, you will support clients and consortium members in the administration and management of consortia activities. You will contribute to the successful delivery of projects, support consultancy assignments and help maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Depending on the stage and complexity of the projects, this role requires:

  • Project management and coordination skills;
  • Execution of administrative and financial management activities;
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing circumstances;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills;
  • Willingness to continuously develop regulatory and industry knowledge.

ReachCentrum has expanded its service portfolio in recent years and continues to develop new services linked to global REACH-like regulations. You will contribute to the development and delivery of these services while working closely with experienced colleagues and subject matter experts. You will report to the ReachCentrum Team Lead and be supported by the wider ReachCentrum team.

Additional Requirements

  • Good stakeholder management and relationship-building skills;
  • Experience collaborating and communicating with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines and manage competing priorities;
  • Knowledge of REACH, CLP, BPR or related chemicals legislation, or a strong interest in developing expertise in this area;
  • Awareness of competition law principles;
  • Good understanding of contractual and legal considerations within consortium management;
  • Interest in financial project management and willingness to learn about consortium cost-sharing mechanisms.

Main Tasks

  • Support the organization and execution of consortium activities;
  • Maintain and communicate consortium plans and timelines;
  • Manage administrative activities, including financial coordination and stakeholder communications;
  • Organize and facilitate technical and executive consortium meetings;
  • Support discussions and contribute to achieving consensus among consortium members;
  • Assist in coordinating the technical work performed by consortium participants and external experts;
  • Support the preparation and review of legal and contractual documentation as required;
  • Identify potential issues and escalate them appropriately to senior colleagues;
  • Work closely with the finance team to support consortium financial management;
  • Assist clients with day-to-day REACH and biocides-related activities;
  • Support interactions with regulatory authorities and third parties where required;
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory developments and industry trends;
  • Contribute ideas and practical solutions to help clients address regulatory challenges;
  • Recognize potential risks and opportunities and support the development of appropriate solutions;
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with consortium members, clients and other stakeholders.
