National Oilwell Varco, L.P. is seeking a Project Engineer for the Hydra Rig product line. Based in Fort Worth, the engineer will design mechanical and structural systems, lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, and collaborate closely with sales, manufacturing, project management, and purchasing to ensure customer specifications are met and projects are delivered on schedule and to Hydra Rig’s engineering standards. Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical engineering assignments with discretion and detail orientation.
  • Lead a team of engineers to complete customer orders and engineering projects.
  • Conduct engineering analysis and develop designs/specifications for mechanical devices and systems.
  • Assist sales in writing specifications that satisfy customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines.
  • Verify equipment designs are tested, meet or exceed customer specifications, and comply with Hydra Rig standards.
  • Prepare technical information for operation manuals of designed equipment.
  • Act as liaison among engineering, sales, manufacturing, project management, and purchasing departments.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate new engineers while enforcing department procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety, and environmental requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or related field).
  • Minimum 6 years of experience designing mechanical systems.
  • Proven structural design experience.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and electrical design principles.
  • Familiarity with standard manufacturing processes and practices.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks is desirable.
  • Finite Element Analysis using Ansys Mechanical is highly desirable. 
  • Strong electrical design experience is preferred. 
  • Professional Engineering Licensure is desired. 
  • Occasional travel to work sites may be required.
  • Ability to develop schedules and manage project timelines.
  • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams (sales, manufacturing, purchasing).
