The Opportunity

The Project Accountant plays a critical role in supporting project financial performance throughout the entire project lifecycle. This position partners closely with Construction Project Managers, Operations, Manufacturing, and Finance teams to manage project accounting, job costing, budgeting, billing, forecasting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting construction, manufacturing, or project-based environments and enjoy working in a fast-paced, high-growth organization. T

This role is responsible for ensuring project costs are accurately recorded, budgets are maintained, invoices are processed, and financial performance is tracked from project setup through closeout. The Project Accountant will help drive financial accuracy, support month-end close activities, and provide key project insights to operational leaders. Our office is in the far North Dallas/ West Plano area and our team is in-office 4x/ week.

What you will do?

  • Set up and maintain projects in Deltek Costpoint, including budgets, billing requirements, revenue recognition, job costing structures, and employee charging.
  • Manage project financials, including job cost tracking, budget monitoring, forecasting, variance analysis, revenue recognition, and month-end reconciliations.
  • Support project billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, subcontractor compliance, change orders, and contract administration activities.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to provide financial analysis, project reporting, and project performance reviews.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany transactions, inventory adjustments, employee expense reviews, and other accounting activities to support accurate financial reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
  • 3-5+ years of Project Accounting, Construction Accounting, Manufacturing Accounting, Cost Accounting, or Project Controls experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale projects, job costing, project budgets, forecasting, change orders, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles (ASC 606).
  • Experience partnering with Project Managers and Operations teams to manage project financial performance.
  • Experience working within ERP systems such as Deltek Costpoint, Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, Syspro, Syteline, or similar platforms.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within construction, engineer-to-order (ETO), industrial manufacturing, project-based manufacturing, or EPC environments.
  • Deltek Costpoint experience preferred.
  • Experience with procurement, manufacturing, inventory, or materials modules within an ERP system.
  • Experience with financial reporting and business intelligence tools such as Cognos or Power BI.
  • International, multicurrency, and intercompany accounting experience is a plus.
  • CMA, CGMA, APICS, or other relevant professional certifications are a plus.
