We are seeking a talented individual to join our Transformation and Change team at Mercer. This role will be based in Melbourne or Sydney. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Program Manager – Product Strategy

The Portfolio Team is part of the Mercer Super Transformation and Change Office. This team is responsible for managing the execution of all notable change initiatives across the Mercer Super business. This position will manage several initiatives including complex interdependent streams across Product development, Insurance uplift and activities, Enhancement of Claims, Platform simplification, experience uplift, enhancement of BAU activities; and continual improvements.

The primary role of the Program Manager entails providing comprehensive oversight of the Product Strategy delivery roadmap and focused initiatives in the portfolio, thereby ensuring the optimal utilisation of resources to efficiently deliver all initiatives within this program in order to attain the desired objectives and support the Mercer Super portfolio and future strategy.

We will count on you to:

  • Work with Executive sponsors and key stakeholders to understand and support development of high level scope, business case benefits, success measures, priorities, proposed solution design, impacts and delivery considerations. 
  • Structure Program for success, working with delivery groups, enablement teams and business areas to source and incorporate required skills
  • Manage program budget and validate project financials & forecasts
  • Scheduling of work and maintaining resource plans.
  • Project Management as well as Program delivery
  • Enable effective governance and decision making (e.g Steering Committees) through reporting and appropriate engagement
  • Facilitate the gathering of project costs and resources time including input from other business units and divisions as required.
  • Regularly measure & report on project performance against the plan & agreed quality measures;
  • Set clear expectations, including clarity around roles & responsibilities, for the team on the execution of project deliverables;
  • Effectively leverage the skills & knowledge of team members to achieve the best solutions. 
  • Identify risks and create & implement mitigation and contingency plans to manage them.

What you need to have: 

  • At least 15 years in financial services in Australia
  • Strong technical understanding of superannuation
  • Program delivery experience for large, complex strategic initiatives, preferably a regulatory/ risk uplift program
  • Leadership of large delivery teams
  • Effectively leverage the skills & knowledge of team members to achieve the best solutions. 
  • Experience with successful Governance, Risk and Compliance implementation across a reasonable sized organisation
  • Ensure risk and issue management processes are actively managed
  • Ensure effective escalation processes are established and utilised
  • Monitor and manage interdependencies within the program and with other projects/programs.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements to project delivery and where appropriate propose alternate & innovative strategies or the use of new tools
  • Direct people management experience preferred
