Role OverviewOperating in a captive set-up, the Manager – HR (Workday) will act as a functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Time Tracking and Absence, partnering with global HR, Payroll, and business stakeholders.
This role will be responsible for designing, configuring, and optimizing Workday solutions, ensuring compliance, seamless integration, and high-quality delivery across global operations. The individual will also serve as a functional lead for the Time & Absence workstream, driving governance, best practices, and continuous improvements.
Key Responsibilities1. Time Tracking & Absence ManagementConfigure and maintain leave types, time off plans, accrual rules, and entitlement policies in Workday
Design and implement time tracking frameworks, including: Time Entry Codes Time Entry Templates Time Calculations and validations
Ensure accurate time capture, approvals, and reporting across geographies
Drive enhancements to improve employee and manager experience
Analyze, design, and maintain Workday configurations across modules
Serve as a functional lead for Time Tracking & Absence modules
Maintain the Workday platform with focus on: Business process configuration Security administration (domain & BP policies) Reporting (simple, advanced, composite, scheduled) Data loads, audits, and system integrity
Hands-on experience with Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) for mass data loads
Support configuration of: Earnings, deductions, and pay components Benefit plans and eligibility rules
Ensure seamless integration between time tracking, absence, and payroll systems
Partner with Payroll teams to ensure accurate pay outcomes and compliance
Ensure adherence to global payroll regulations, statutory leave policies, and labor laws
Align configurations with audit, compliance, and internal governance standards
Drive structured change management, regression testing, and release governance
Lead/support end-to-end Workday implementations and enhancements, including: Requirement gathering and solution design Prototyping and stakeholder validation Testing (SIT/UAT) and defect resolution Production deployment and hypercare support
Partner with global teams to deliver scalable and standardized HRIT solutions
Manage and enhance: Business Process Frameworks Security configuration Reporting and analytics Data conversion and migration
Provide functional advisory and recommend best-in-class Workday practices
Act as a trusted advisor to HR, Payroll, and leadership teams
Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
Collaborate with global teams across time zones (including US support, as needed)
Bachelor’s degree in HR, IT, Business, or related field
6–8 years of overall experience, with minimum 5+ years in Workday
Strong experience in Workday Time Tracking and Absence, Payroll modules
Hands-on experience in Workday configuration, security, reporting, and EIB (mass loads)
Experience in Workday implementations (end-to-end lifecycle)
Strong understanding of HR processes and HCM modules (Core, Time, Absence)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience in Payroll and Benefits configuration (Workday or equivalent)
Exposure to multi-country HR operations and compliance frameworks
Workday certifications (Time Tracking / Absence / HCM)
Experience in Workday interface support
Workday HCM & Cloud Applications expertise
System configuration and systems analysis
Reporting and data analytics
Root cause analysis and problem-solving
Knowledge of SaaS-based HR systems architecture
