Eliot is seeking a Director in our Jail Diversion Program. This program works in partnership with the Police Department to support individuals, including adults, adolescents, children and families that are experiencing mental health and substance use challenges, with the goal of diverting them from the criminal justice system to appropriate treatment services.

The ideal candidate will provide clinical oversight, supervise Jail Diversion Program staff and collaborate with police departments and community stakeholders to divert those with mental health issues from the criminal justice system into appropriate services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical coordination and oversight for designated police departments and collaborate with the officers, JDP clinicians, Eliot staff, mental health organizations, hospitals, and other community providers to divert individuals with mental health issues from the criminal justice system into mental health services, as appropriate.
  • Provide supervision to JDP staff and establish and monitor performance and performance standards. Organize, schedule, and conduct regular monthly staff or group supervisions with JDP staff.
  • Oversee JDP scheduling and ensure adequate coverage across all police departments supporting the staffing pattern designed to meet volume.
  • Conduct or assist with conducting investigations of complaints or incidents, as assigned and complete investigation reports as required.
  • Participate in the administrator on-call rotation for the program
  • Assist individuals in diversionary services in following up with mental health providers, community supports, peer services, dual diagnosis services and other services as applicable.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships with community resources, mental health providers, inpatient providers, the local RLC, DMH, DDS, and other resources to support people in accessing support services.
  • Develop community partnerships with natural supports such as spiritual groups, local support groups, social supports and community based groups.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Masters’ Degree in a related field and corresponding clinical license.
  • Must have at least four (4) years of experience working within the criminal justice system and/or with individuals with mental illness with forensic involvement.
  • Proven ability to develop community connections with other providers, stakeholders, police departments and family members.
  • Ability to develop individualized interventions and plans for individuals with emotional, mental health and/or substance abuse issues who are in crisis and/or involved with the criminal justice system.
  • Knowledge of interventions and evidence based treatment related to jail diversion and mental health.
  • Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and maintain a personally owned vehicle.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

Annual Salary
$85,000$90,000 USD

Skills Required
