Valmet is looking for a Production Supervisor capable of overseeing mechanical roll repair shop, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of customer roll repair and maintain a high level of quality initiative provided through the material and manufacturing process according to the customer’s needs.

  • Lead and support second-shift employees in the daily repair of mechanical rolls.
  • Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to established procedures and quality requirements.
  • Monitor production flow, priorities, and turnaround times to keep work moving.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and coaching to a younger and less experienced workforce.
  • Identify and address quality issues early and escalate concerns when needed.
  • Coordinate with first-shift supervision and management to ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
  • Ensure proper documentation, inspections, and work instructions are followed.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving on the shop floor.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the department.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors’ Degree – Engineering (Processor or Chemical in the Pulp & Paper Industry) or a minimum of 5 years’ experience with paper machine rolls and their applications.  Knowledge of machine tool and fabricating operations with a good mechanical aptitude. 

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note that any offer of employment is contingent upon a background check and drug screen.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Process or Chemical Engineering in the pulp and paper industry
  • Alternatively, at least 5 years of experience with paper machine rolls and their applications
  • Knowledge of machine tool and fabricating operations
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
