Job Summary

The Production Supervisor directly supervises production employees. As the front-line of the business responsibilities are to oversee production, track product yields, and make necessary adjustments to ensure yield capacity is met. Ensuring safety and USDA standards are met throughout all steps to the manufacturing process. This position is a key role in upholding the trusted quality and compliance. Supervision of production employees on assigned shifts to ensure production guidelines are being met within established timing, quality, and cost standards. Trains, directs, coaches and leads the production team in day-to-day operations to meet production, safety and quality requirements. Drives the communication of production goals and objectives, as well as results in order to effectively motivate the team to maintain a high standard of product quality, while maximizing plant efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily walks and visual inspections of the Production floor in observation of unsafe acts or conditions; takes immediate corrective action where necessary.
  • Maintains safety/environmental self-audits & visual checks.
  • Champions all safety and ergonomic activities for the department and helps to develop and meet plant safety goals.
  • Maintain desired product quality and safety. Ensure all staff and employees know and understand the Food Safety plan and the Food Quality plan.
  • Adherence to HACCP, USDA regulations, and SQF audit requirements.
  • Inspects product to verify conformance to specifications and direct setup and adjustment to machines.
  • Trains employees to ensure safe operating procedures are followed, including lock out/tag out.
  • Coordinates production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Provide supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management.
  • Ensures all required PPE is being used in the production areas.
  • Adheres to product specification requirements throughout the manufacturing process to maintain the desired product quality.
  • Maintains adequate knowledge of products and equipment to ensure the ability to direct employees to perform the job properly.
  • Maintains or exceeds goals on yields and efficiencies.
  • Works with Operations and Plant Manager to maintain knowledge of yields and variances, methods of calculations, typical problem areas and methodology for corrections and improvement.
  • Suggests changes in the workflow process and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the department and production to maintain the lowest level of downtime, waste and product costs.
  • Traces and analyzes key product measures for improvement opportunities.
  • Familiarity with GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices)

Qualifications

  • Preferred 8 years Production Supervisory experience in a Manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing industry.
  • Preferred 8 years of Manufacturing.
  • Experience in leading and following Safety/Security policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow all Sanitation and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

Education

Preferred BS/BA degree in Business Management or related field

Skills Required

  • 8 years Production Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing industry
  • 8 years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience in leading and following safety and security policies and procedures
  • Ability to follow all sanitation and quality policies and procedures
