Position Summary 

The Production Planner II ensures optimal production flow by developing, maintaining, and executing accurate master 

schedules that align demand, capacity, and material availability. This role drives consistent on-time delivery and 

manufacturing efficiency through proactive planning, coordination, and issue resolution. The Production Planner II works 

closely with production, materials, engineering, and quality teams to balance priorities, anticipate constraints, and 

maintain reliable plans in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Maintain an organized digital log of all current projects, tasks, schedules, and priorities. 

  • Create and maintain production schedules, including daily, weekly, and long-range plans based on demand forecasts, sales orders, and capacity constraints. 

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align on timelines, material readiness, machine time, labor availability, and production priorities. 

  • Analyze capacity and resource requirements to evaluate labor, equipment, tooling, and operational constraints, ensuring balanced and efficient schedules. 

  • Manage MRP/ERP planning parameters, ensuring accurate lead times, lot sizes, BOMs, routings, and related data to support stable system planning. 

  • Create, release, and manage work orders, verifying accuracy and ensuring timely completion on the shop floor. 

  • Resolve scheduling conflicts such as shortages, equipment downtime, engineering changes, priority shifts, or unexpected production issues. 

  • Support inventory management and collaborate with materials teams to prevent shortages, minimize excess, and maintain optimal stock levels. 

  • Communicate schedule updates, changes, and production impacts clearly and proactively to teams, customer service, and leadership. 

  • Analyze production data, evaluating KPIs such as adherence, throughput, and cycle times to identify process improvement opportunities. 

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, supporting workflow optimization, standardization, and lean manufacturing practices. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. 

  • Ability to manage multiple schedules, priorities, and deadlines with accuracy. 

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Epicor, or similar) preferred. 

  • Ability to interpret sales forecasts, capacity data, BOMs, routings, and production metrics. 

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments. 

  • Familiarity with manufacturing or production environments is a plus. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

  • Must be able to walk, stand, and navigate large indoor and outdoor facilities for extended periods of time.  

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.  

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated areas or when performing specific tasks, in accordance with safety protocols and company policy.  

  • May be required to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, or crouch during inspections, maintenance walk-throughs, or emergency response situations.  

  • Regular exposure to facility operations including noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment.  

  • Occasional off-hours or weekend work required for emergency facility responses or projects as needed  

  • Requires frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment for documentation, communication, and coordination tasks. 

 

Background Check 

This position will require successfully completing a post-offer background check. Qualified candidates with a criminal history will be considered and are not automatically disqualified, consistent with federal and state law.
