Covestro, leader in the production of technopolymers for the global market, is looking for a candidate to join our manufacturing site in Filago (BG) as Production Manager.
This is a key leadership role within the Operations team, with full responsibility for Safety, Quality, Service and Productivity performance. Beyond operational results, the Production Manager will be expected to lead and develop the production organisation through visible, credible and people-centred leadership — driving cultural transformation, empowering teams and building a continuous improvement mindset across all levels.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the selected candidate will take on the following responsibilities:
Ensure the achievement of production targets in terms of Safety, Quality, Service and Productivity, managing KPIs such as OEE, scrap rates and operational efficiency;
Lead, coach and develop shift supervisors and team leaders, fostering accountability, autonomy and professional growth within the production organisation;
Drive a culture of continuous improvement and Operational Excellence through structured problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis methodologies;
Support digital transformation initiatives and the adoption of digital tools (MES, data collection systems, operational dashboards, analytics) to improve production performance;
Integrate sustainability, energy efficiency and responsible resource use into daily operational decisions;
Lead organisational change processes, guiding people through operational and cultural transformations while maintaining high levels of engagement;
Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards;
Promote open communication and cross-functional collaboration across departments.
WHAT YOU OFFER
The ideal candidate has a degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or Management Engineering) or has equivalent technical experience.
Experience:
At least 5 years in production management within complex manufacturing environments, with direct experience leading operational staff, supervisors and shift-based or continuous cycle operations;
Solid background in KPI management (OEE, productivity, quality, scrap), production planning and Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence methodologies;
Experience with digital production support systems (MES, data platforms, operational dashboards) and ability to drive digital transformation and process simplification initiatives;
Sensitivity towards sustainability, energy efficiency and responsible resource management;
Background in chemical, plastics, pharmaceutical, food, packaging or process industries is preferred.
Visible Leadership & People Development: ability to build effective relationships at all levels, develop supervisors and team leaders, manage performance and foster accountability and professional growth;
Organisational & Change Leadership: experience leading organisational change and cultural transformations, creating collaborative and results-oriented environments, and maintaining team engagement throughout transitions;
Conflict Management: ability to handle complex situations and diverse stakeholders, mediating effectively between operational, organisational and business needs.
Language Requirements:
Near-native proficiency in Italian is required and fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential
