We’re hiring a Product Operations Manager to design and implement a Jira operating model that improves how Product Management and Engineering plan, execute, and report on work across the product development lifecycle. The central challenge is supporting a large organization with varied and historical team practices while introducing enough standardization, governance, and data quality to enable reliable executive- and board-level roadmapping and reporting. This role will architect connected workflows across Jira, Asana, Confluence, Google Workspace, and other platforms while identifying opportunities to use automation and AI to improve product development operations.
Responsibilities:
- Assess current Jira usage, team practices, workflows, data structures, reporting needs, and pain points across Product and Engineering.
- Architect and administer Jira at enterprise scale, including workflows, issue hierarchies, permissions, automation, dashboards, roadmaps, and reporting.
- Define and implement a flexible future-state Jira operating model that accommodates different ways of working while establishing appropriate standards, governance, ownership, and data-quality expectations.
- Design connected solutions across Jira, Asana, Confluence, Google Workspace, and other product development and collaboration tools.
- Build and maintain automations that reduce manual work, improve handoffs, increase data consistency, and support intake, planning, status reporting, dependency management, and executive reviews.
- Establish consistent structures and processes for initiatives, milestones, epics, backlogs, roadmaps, releases, dependencies, documentation, and portfolio reporting.
- Develop trusted reporting and dashboards that improve visibility into delivery health, risks, dependencies, decisions, milestones, and overall execution status.
- Lead change-management activities, including assessing current practices, defining future-state processes, communicating the rationale for change, training users and leaders, addressing resistance, and driving sustained adoption.
- Identify and implement AI-enabled solutions that improve requirements development, documentation, analysis, reporting, planning, and decision-making.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Product Operations, Engineering Operations, IT, and other stakeholders to continuously improve the operating model and measure its effectiveness.
Success in this role will be measured by improved visibility into delivery health, risks, dependencies, milestones, and execution status; more consistent, accurate, and complete data; trusted executive- and board-level roadmaps and reporting; reduced manual effort; and demonstrated adoption of the future-state Jira design, workflows, governance standards, and reporting processes across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, with significant experience in product operations, engineering operations, enterprise systems, business operations, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience architecting and administering Jira at enterprise scale, including workflows, issue hierarchies, permissions, automation, dashboards, roadmaps, and reporting.
- Experience designing operating models, governance practices, or standardized workflows for large organizations with varied team processes.
- Strong understanding of the Product Management and Engineering development lifecycle, including intake, planning, prioritization, execution tracking, release coordination, and post-launch analysis.
- Demonstrated change-management experience, including assessing current practices, defining future-state processes, communicating change, training users and leaders, managing resistance, and driving sustained adoption.
- Strong systems-thinking, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-influence skills, with the ability to operate independently in an ambiguous environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience integrating Jira with tools such as Asana, Confluence, Google Workspace, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, or other enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with APIs, webhooks, SQL, Python, JavaScript, or automation platforms such as Zapier, Workato, Make, or Power Automate.
- Experience implementing AI-enabled workflows, LLM-based tools, prompt engineering, or AI assistants in a business or product environment.
- Experience developing portfolio-management processes, executive reporting, delivery metrics, dashboards, or board-level roadmaps.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale tool implementations, operating-model transformations, or complex organizational change initiatives.
- Experience working in a technical, software, aerospace, defense, or other complex product-development environment.
