Position Summary
The Product Stewardship Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that the company's coatings and coated products are developed, manufactured, and distributed in compliance with all applicable regulatory, safety, health, and environmental requirements. This role supports both internal teams and external customers by managing product compliance documentation, monitoring regulatory changes, and enabling proactive stewardship across the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Work with EHS and Legal to establish, manage, and maintain a process for responding to inquiries regarding global and regional chemical regulations (e.g., PFAS, TSCA, REACH, Prop 65, GHS, Canadian DSL/NDSL, etc.) for raw materials and finished goods.
- Author and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), labels, and technical product stewardship documentation in accordance with GHS and local regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and manage product regulatory databases and systems, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to evaluate new products for regulatory impacts and provide guidance during product development and commercialization.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding product regulatory compliance, certifications, and sustainability data (e.g., VOC content, RoHS, conflict minerals, recyclability).
- Monitor and communicate emerging global regulations and industry trends affecting the business and recommend proactive compliance strategies.
- Support internal audits and external certifications related to product stewardship and regulatory programs (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
- Work closely with suppliers to gather and validate regulatory documentation for raw materials.
- Assist with quality and technical services inquiries.
Personal Attributes and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, or related field; advanced degree or regulatory certifications a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in product stewardship, regulatory affairs, or EHS within the chemical or coatings industry.
- Strong knowledge of chemical regulatory frameworks (e.g., TSCA, REACH, GHS).
- Experience with SDS authoring tools and chemical inventory systems (e.g., SAP EH&S, WERCS, Chemwatch).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate regulatory language for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Pay Range
$72,000-$88,000
