As a Product Owner IIII within PNC’s Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Dallas, TX, or Phoenix, AZ, and play a critical role supporting enterprise-scale backend and platform technologies that enable reliability, monitoring, observability, and analytics across the firm.
PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position.
Role Summary
PNC is seeking an experienced Technical Product Owner with a strong foundation in Business Analysis to support enterprise backend platforms. This role blends strategic product ownership with hands-on execution and administrative rigor, making it well suited for a Product Owner who has grown from a Business Analyst background and is comfortable operating in complex, highly regulated environments.
The Product Owner IIII typically supports two to three enterprise platforms concurrently and works in close partnership with engineering teams, architecture, site reliability and operations, and vendor partners to ensure successful delivery and ongoing platform health.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Planning
• Serve as the Product Owner for assigned enterprise backend platforms, ensuring alignment to business objectives, technical strategy, and operational priorities
• Own product prioritization decisions, balancing near-term operational needs, risk reduction, and long-term platform strategy
• Develop and maintain annual product roadmaps and lead quarterly planning activities
• Identify and manage dependencies and sequencing across multiple products and workstreams
In this capacity, the Product Owner IIII acts as the primary point of accountability for platform outcomes, ensuring that work delivered by engineering crews aligns to enterprise standards and agreed-upon priorities.
Backlog & Delivery Execution
• Maintain end-to-end ownership of the product backlog, including backlog buildout, grooming, refinement, and prioritization
• Translate complex technical, operational, and compliance requirements into clear, actionable user stories
• Perform significant administrative and documentation activities, including requirements documentation, process flows, and platform artifacts
• Partner closely with Scrum Masters and Engineering teams to support sprint planning, execution, and delivery
This role requires comfort operating at a detailed level, with a strong emphasis on documentation, traceability, and follow-through to support auditability and operational readiness.
Technical & Operational Focus
• Demonstrate working knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or Site Reliability Center operating models
• Partner with engineering and operations teams to ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for availability, reliability, performance, and observability
While this role is not responsible for hands-on engineering, a strong technical aptitude and ability to engage in deep technical discussions with platform teams is essential.
Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement
• Engage with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements, align priorities, and manage expectations
• Support vendor relationship management, including participation in vendor evaluations, roadmap discussions, and contract conversations
The Product Owner IIII serves as a key liaison across internal teams and external partners, ensuring transparency, alignment, and timely communication.
Product & Technology Portfolio
The Product Owner III will support a subset of enterprise platforms within the broader technology portfolio. Specific assignments may vary over time and may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Monitoring & Observability: BigPanda, Dynatrace, Grafana
• Analytics & Logging: Elastic / LogScale, Glassbox
