Team Overview
Role OverviewWe are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Product Monitoring Analyst to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of our product monitoring capabilities. This role is critical in ensuring the health, performance, and reliability of our products and services. The successful candidate plays a pivotal part in ensuring product quality, enabling proactive issue detection, conduct in-depth analysis of monitoring data, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our monitoring and alerting capabilities. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Alert First-Responder: Act as the initial point of contact for system alerts, ensuring timely triage and escalation where necessary.
- Monitoring & Trend Analysis: Track and analyse product monitoring metrics and historical trends to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Exception Investigation: Investigate exceptions and outliers in monitoring data to determine root causes, impact assessments and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitoring Test Design & Build: Design and implement robust monitoring tests, including setting and refining alert thresholds to ensure optimal business reactivity.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive the evolution of monitoring across products through monitoring tooling, bespoke analysis, consistency and observability enhancements.
- Data Visualisation: Create insightful reports and dashboards using tools such as Grafana or Power BI to communicate trends, anomalies, and findings to stakeholders.
- Data Retrieval & Analysis: Access and analyse product exhaust data from lake storage or archives to support deep-dive investigations.
- Advanced Ad Hoc Analysis: Conduct strategic and technically complex analyses using advanced analytics toolsets (e.g. R, Python) to support decision-making and product development
Required Knowledge And Experiences
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in monitoring and observability within a data, product or technology environment.
- Strong coding skills and experience implementing monitoring frameworks.
- Proficiency in data visualisation tools (Grafana, Power BI).
- Advanced analytical skills with experience in R, Python, or similar tools.
- Ability to lead investigations and communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable:
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, Data Fabric and data lakes.
- Familiar with data quality validation.
- Knowledge of issue and problem management frameworks.
