Are you excited by the idea of shaping the next generation of bone replacement materials? We are looking for a Product Development Scientist who will take ownership of innovative formulation projects and help bring breakthrough biomaterials to life. This role combines hands-on scientific work with strategic project management—ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of research, product development, and regulatory pathways.
What you'll do
In this position, you’ll lead the development of biomaterial formulations, including ceramics, polymers, and active ingredients. You will manage projects from concept through design and development, ensuring that each phase—from laboratory research to pre-clinical validation—is executed with precision.
You’ll coordinate internal teams as well as external partners and vendors, including material suppliers and contract manufacturers. A key part of your role will be to maintain ownership of the Design History File, ensuring documentation and technical deliverables meet both quality and regulatory standards.
You'll also be responsible for:
- Designing and conducting experiments for new and existing products in the field of bone replacement
- Reporting results and translating findings into actionable insights for R&D, QA/RA, production, and marketing
- Optimizing and validating material compositions for clinical use
- Managing and mentoring junior team members, trainees, and researchers
- Staying current on emerging technologies and sharing knowledge within the team
In addition, you'll contribute to scientific writing—such as patents, grant proposals, and technical reports—and you won’t hesitate to propose improvements when you see opportunities for efficiency or innovation.
What we expect from you
You bring scientific rigor, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage complex projects across disciplines. You're comfortable navigating both the lab bench and the boardroom—and you know how to move an idea through the development pipeline toward market readiness.
You also have:
- A MSc or PhD in Drug Delivery, Bio-Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Formulations or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in product development and project management (industry experience preferred)
- Solid understanding of quality systems, regulatory requirements, and risk analysis
- Strong lab skills and experience with biomaterials, preferably in bone void fillers or drug-loaded systems
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You must be able to work both independently and collaboratively, with a hands-on, problem-solving mentality that helps push projects forward. You are curious, a doer and self-starter. You are able to experiment and translate into regulatory compliance.
Why join us?
You'll be part of an ambitious, multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving patient outcomes through smart material science. We value initiative, creativity, and a pragmatic approach. We offer a supportive environment where scientific excellence goes hand-in-hand with product impact.
