The Windows Design team is a creative community of designers and researchers imagining the future of computing and evolving Windows for the age of AI. This role sits at the intersection of onboarding, personalization, and customer engagement experiences in Windows. You'll help imagine how people discover, learn, and personalize their devices by creating experiences that make Windows feel more useful, expressive, and unique. You'll explore opportunities across both software and hardware to bring delight and individuality to the Windows ecosystem.
In this role, you’ll shape the next generation of Windows experiences—simplifying complexity and bringing emerging technologies together into cohesive, human-centered products. You’ll collaborate across design, engineering, research, and product management to explore new interaction models and translate complex technological possibilities into intuitive, accessible, and thoughtfully crafted solutions. You’ll take ideas from early experimentation and prototyping through scalable implementation across Windows platform surfaces and applications. You'll be surrounded by experienced designers who are passionate about mentorship and creating opportunities for designers to expand their craft, take ownership, and grow their impact. Responsibilities
- Design and deliver end-to-end product experiences from concept through implementation across platform features and applications.
- Explore and prototype new interaction paradigms enabled by emerging technologies such as AI, adaptive interfaces, and intelligent systems.
- Leverage frontier AI tools to improve the speed, quality, and impact of design outcomes.
- Create and test prototypes to validate concepts, de-risk decisions, and clearly communicate intent to partners and stakeholders.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design.
- OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
Additional Requirements:
- A portfolio demonstrating visual design excellence, thoughtful interaction design, and systems thinking.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to craft polished, engaging, and emotionally resonant experiences across product surfaces.
- Experience designing innovative product experiences within complex technical ecosystems.
- Ability to synthesize solutions from ambiguous or emerging problem spaces.
- Experience working across disciplines such as UX, visual design, prototyping, or front-end implementation.
- Ability to inform design decisions using qualitative and quantitative insights.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams.
- Experience with prototyping tools and willingness to explore implementation technologies and agentic coding tools.

Product Design IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
