The Role
About Velocity

Velocity is building a category-defining payments platform powered by stablecoins. We're delivering a globally connected and coherent network that realizes our vision for real-time cross-border payments. Our solution has a unique go-to-market and leverages open blockchain networks to reduce costs and friction associated with traditional cross-border payment networks, creating an internet-powered payment system designed for the future of commerce.

We're a VC-backed startup led by experienced executives who have built successful payment businesses. Currently a team of 20, we have ambitious growth plans for the coming months. This is an exciting opportunity to join us early and help build an innovative product from the ground up, free from legacy constraints.

Role Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Product Designer to join us as our first in-house design hire and help shape the future of cross-border payments.

You’ll lead the hands-on design of intuitive, efficient payment experiences for our enterprise clients – spanning merchant acquirers, digital disbursements, and B2B commerce – while also laying the foundations for, and eventually helping to grow, our design team as the company scales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end design processes from research and ideation to final implementation for payment products and features

  • Create user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity screens that simplify complex payment operations

  • Collaborate with our product and engineering teams to ensure your creative vision is brought to life and operates as expected

  • Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions

  • Develop and maintain our existing design system to ensure consistency across the product

  • Keep up to date with the latest trends, events, design tools and emerging technologies.

Required Experience
  • 5+ years of product design experience, with at least 2 years focused on payment products or financial services

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience with financial interfaces (ideally B2B), with the ability to explain how your design process led to a successful (or otherwise) outcome.

  • Experience designing B2B products and enterprise-grade solutions

  • Proven track record of shipping products that drive business results

  • Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma, etc.)

Nice to have
  • Understanding of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency payments

  • Experience with cross-border payment systems or FX products

  • Experience designing for multiple locales and currencies

What We Offer
  • Shared ownership Everyone owns a share of the company - no exceptions.

  • L&D budgets We’ll support you with training and development related to your role. This could be funding a course, or giving you time to work on a new skill - we’ll do our best to make it happen.

  • Offices We’re a dispersed team but one that likes spending time together. We have an office in London (Soho), and we aim to work together there the majority of the time. We also believe in working with the best talent wherever it is in the world, so we also have great people who work remotely but join us f2f as much as possible.

  • Equipment It is important to have the best tools for the job. We will provide you with a high end Macbook and will update them regularly. We use all the best modern tools - and if you find an even more efficient way of doing something, we’ll adopt it.

  • Pension: Enrolment in our pension scheme. Velocity contributes the equivalent of 3% of your base salary.

  • Holiday: Everyone gets 25 days of holiday, plus bank holidays and your birthday off – or opt our of bank holidays and take 33 days whenever you like

  • Family: Paid maternity, paternity, adoption or shared parental leave, if you’ve been with us for at least 20 weeks. At least 30 week primary caregiver leave at 100% pay and at least 10 weeks secondary caregiver leave. Up to 12 weeks of paid Neonatal Leave when a baby requires neonatal care.
