The Product Certification Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products comply with all relevant national and international regulatory standards and certification requirements throughout the product lifecycle. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing certification processes, preparing documentation, and liaising with regulatory bodies and certification agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline

At least 3 months of relevant work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with 3D modeling to include Creo or SolidWorks

Experience with machine design

Essential Duties:

Apply compliance procedures and systems for applicable product types.

Specify and document product compliance requirements in formal documentation (Compliance Requirement Specifications, Bills of Material, Compliance Procedures, Engineering Design/Material Specifications).

Conduct and coordinate product certification activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., UL, ETL, CE, FCC, IEC, ISO).

Prepare and submit documentation for certification applications and renewals.

Liaise with regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and testing laboratories to secure and maintain product certifications.

Collaborate with engineering, operations, sourcing, quality, service, and marketing teams to assure ongoing product content compliance and distribution control.

Participate in product design and development activities to ensure products are designed for certification success.

Maintain certification schedules, reports, and records.

Support internal and external audits related to product compliance and certification.

Contribute to internal documentation and presentations on compliance topics.

Engage in learning opportunities with senior compliance engineers and external regulatory contacts

Support product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs).

Acts as a resource to more experienced engineers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to perform detail oriented work with a high degree of accuracy;

Ability to translate technical information to all audiences;

Uses basic engineering knowledge to improve products or services;

Able to solve basic engineering problems; good decision-making skills;

Proficient oral and written communication;

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
