The Opportunity
Western Sydney University is looking for a Procurement Officer to join its Procurement Services team to deliver procurement solutions that support teaching, research and operational excellence across the University.

The Procurement Officer will partner with stakeholders to guide and manage procurement activities, provide advice and training, support contract and supplier management, and embed best practice procurement across the University.

The Procurement Officer also contributes to sourcing activities, governance, risk management and reporting, while ensuring procurement practices comply with University policies, procedures and relevant legislative requirements.

What Success Looks Like:
The Procurement Officer will deliver reliable procurement support while strengthening compliance, stakeholder capability and purchasing outcomes. This includes:

  • Deliver sourcing activities that meet business needs and comply with established procurement policies and procedures.
  • Support effective contract management, including issue resolution and the negotiation of appropriate contract and purchase order variations.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting that support compliance and informed decision-making.
  • Equip stakeholders to undertake procurement activities confidently through clear advice, responsive support and systems training.
  • Identify and manage procurement risks while promoting probity and governance obligations with stakeholders and suppliers.

About You
The successful applicant will bring practical procurement experience, sound judgement and the ability to guide stakeholders through complex requirements. They will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of professional experience, education, training and achievement.
  • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end procurement, including business planning, needs analysis, tendering and contract award.
  • Sound knowledge of procurement and contract management frameworks, principles and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage procurement matters with minimal supervision while balancing competing priorities.
  • Well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear advice and work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
