POSITION OVERVIEW

Ascend Performance Materials is the premium provider of high quality chemicals, fibers and plastics. With world scale integrated manufacturing facilities we are able to develop new products from our core technologies, and provide flexibility to respond to the expanding needs of our customers.  Ascend has global sales and distribution with five manufacturing facilities in the United States. 

The primary purpose of the Sr. Operators is to act as  point of contact for the area and coordinate day-to-day activities, including work schedules, overtime and other administrative duties.  These are working team lead positions, and the individuals will continue to perform regular shift assignments as well as direct shift activities.

TARGETED OUTCOMES

  • Lead a safe operations area utilizing zero-incident safety principles
  • Actively participate in and support safety efforts to ensure compliance with plant and area safety and environmental requirements.
  • Take ownership of area goals and assist in leading the shift’s efforts to achieve those goals
  • Ensure daily tasks are completed and coordinate work with maintenance and the lab.
  • Liaison with other support services as needed

REPORTS TO – Shift Supervisor, Logistics

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates leadership in driving Ascend’s zero-incident safety culture through safe work practices and operator engagement
  • Exhibits solid leadership in driving Ascend’s zero-incident safety culture through safe work practices and operator engagement.  Will also lead Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) as needed to drive safety & area performance.
  • Functions as a technical resource for the area.
  • Takes ownership of area goals and leads the shifts’ efforts to achieve those goals
  • Provides effective communication throughout the organization.
  • Act as area point of contact & assists in coordinating day-to-day activities
  • Drive successful training and certification progression for team.
  • Identify and champion the use of best-in-class and lean/six sigma based work processes to drive area toward entitlement performance.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Commitment to plant safety, environmental, and industrial hygiene practices
  • Excellent oral and written communications
  • Demonstrated ability to coach & mentor other operators
  • Proactive leadership & team building skills with the ability to work effectively throughout the organization in a fast paced environment
  • Strong sense of ownership and a drive to improve existing systems and processes by creative & innovative approaches

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum, Step H4-4 certification – preference given to full certification
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • 3 years Chemical manufacturing experience preferred
