The Role

The Process Optimization Expert (POE) will work with cross-functional teams to significantly improve business models that leverage intelligent automation. The goal of this role is to improve end-to-end processes that start and end with the customer. The POE will partner with business units to diagnose issues, design solutions, implement recommendations and support measuring the business outcomes. In addition to leading a variety of reengineering activities, the POE will also act as a change agent to ensure solutions are implemented and projected business results are achieved.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Successfully lead teams through all phases of a Lean, Six Sigma or Reengineering effort (e.g., discover, diagnose, design, implement, measure & improve) and all aspects of applicable improvement (e.g., people, process, technology & policy).

  • Develop continuous improvement initiatives, consult with, and influence internal stakeholders, creating value and buy-in.

  • Develop, scope and oversee complex projects that deliver meaningful business value

  • Participate in process improvement/automation initiatives using measurements, analysis and discussion of process alternatives to arrive at viable solutions and best practices.

  • Document and baseline existing or future state processes, identify areas of significant opportunity for re-engineering and/or automation; provide recommendations to re-engineer processes to improve automation potential.

  • Conduct discovery on, and project manage, the execution of potential automation solutions.

  • Analyze and observe processes to understand process steps, inter-dependencies, and applications used to complete transactions.

  • Coordinate with the IT development teams, business owners, and other relevant stakeholders to define requirements, design, develop, test, and deploy solutions.

  • Present recommendations to stakeholders and business leaders that are compelling to motivate and drive change.

  • Develop and maintain trusting relationships that foster alignment, transparency and collaboration.

  • Communicate project status, issues, and risks to project sponsor on a regular basis.

  • Drive implementation of solutions within the business where required.

Education, Experience, Competencies & Values

  • 4-8 years of project management experience

  • BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Insurance or Financial Service experience highly preferred.

  • Management consulting experience is a plus.

  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, Lean or equivalent training/certification required.

  • Process orientation with strong attention to detail.

  • Must have strong leadership, problem solving and communication competencies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to properly deconstruct the problem and determine viable solution options using data as a guide.

  • Strong attention to detail, clear understanding of root cause analysis and ability to suggest resolutions.

  • Knowledge of digital and automation solutions in the marketplace and how they potentially apply to the insurance industry preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire knowledge in various technical areas.

  • Solid capability to execute tasks with quality, within deadlines and with a positive impact on customer experience.

  • Strong communication / presentation skills, verbal and written.

  • Self-motivated, results-driven and well-organized.

  • Advanced proficiency with VISIO, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint

The base salary range for this role is $109,000 - $147,500. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including geographic location, skill set, experience, qualifications and education.
