Responsibilities

Job Summary


The Process Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, product quality, operational efficiency, and cost performance within the Dover facility. 


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve product issues using production and quality data.
  • Lead and implement improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Supervise and support plant QA Technician
  • Support capital projects and technical problem solving.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with Minteq R&D, QA, Sales and plant QA to help resolve product quality issues as needed
  • Support plant operations in supervisory role as necessary

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline with at least three (3) years related experience in an industrial environment.
  • Ceramic Engineering degree with work experience in refractory products is preferred.

Experience

Incumbent must have a well-developed business understanding, working knowledge of customer requirements and demonstrate a balance between analytical and creative thinking. Incumbent must also be a self-starter who seeks responsibility and is able to work with minimal direction. Incumbents must have demonstrated a willingness to challenge conventional ideas, be flexible, innovative, and be able to function effectively in a team environment. Incumbents must be proficient in personal computers and related databases. Computer skills required include advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, database, and CAD software on PC based systems. Incumbents must possess excellent organizational and communication skills. Incumbents must possess strong interpersonal skills and can communicate and effectively motivate others to promote a positive work atmosphere.


Must have a well-developed understanding of a Lean Manufacturing Environment including 5S, PDCA, Standard Work, Kaizen, TPM, and other Continuous Improvement methodologies. Must be able to develop an understanding of business financials and must have proven analytical and problem-solving skills.


Working Conditions: Exposure to manufacturing equipment, noise, dust and varying temperatures. Required PPE must be worn.


Safety EquipmentSafety equipment typically required while performing the duties of this job are a personal lockout/tagout lock, an ANSI approved hardhat and safety glasses with sideshields, safety shoes/boots with steel toe protection. Additional personal protective equipment is available for use if a situation arises where it becomes required or if it is simply desired by the employee.


Safety Training RequiredA new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is to be provided New Employee Training by a qualified individual. It will include, but is not limited to, the following: forklift/mobile equipment operation and certification/licensing, hazard communication, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, electrical safety, lock out/tag out, personal protective equipment, bloodborne pathogens, fire fighting/extinguishers, machine safety, confined spaces, reporting of hazardous conditions, accidents, injuries, near-miss and property damage incidents, evacuation/emergency procedures, first aid, back injury prevention, and job/work area procedures.
